Famous Dragon Arena players?
d3kst3r
With this new PvP mode, I was wondering if there were any notable players that people have seen.
TadaceAce
This arena is more luck than anything. You can run up to shoot at a guy but while your going to shoot at a guy another guy runs up and shoots at you. Or the guy your shooting at shoots back at you and gets the 5 second later kill. One person isn't notable, a team effort can be impressive.
d3kst3r
Errr... I've seen players who just stand there and dodge like 6 shots coming towards him and then suddenly fire back and shoot someone to death. Not just that but they do this repeatedly with little effort and get kill:death ratios of like 8:1.
Glipher
Wouldn't this be against the whole no-posting names policy?
Or does that not apply when it's actually meant in a positive way?

It's annoying having dogde a attack, and then die half a sec later because the other person has a better connection to the server.
Interestingly it doesn't effect my fighting in missions or GvG.

I use Kiting to great affect, and with all the Rit Spirit spammers, more so then ever these days.

I've seen people evade very very well - unfortunatly my computer is very laggy so I dont have much of a chance in the areana >.<
Engel the Fallen
I love this arena. Played it a few times figuring I could see just how good my kiting was. So I take down two people on the other team, while my whole team wipes. Then I get, rez noob yelled at me while I am 4 vs 1. Something tells me 3 sec rez while kiting four people would not happen.

I dont know who'd b considered "notable" people
I went 10 straight wins in here, if u wanna judge notable by that we can post our streaks in the Dragon Arena right here.
I dunno bout inviduals but i did see some of the high rank guilds in there
The team i went 10 straight with had 2 iQ and 1 WM

For now it is impossible for someone to have build a reputation in the Dragon Arenas. There simply haven't been enough games so far and it's very rare that i meet someone twice. On top of that, dodging isn't hard in GuildWars.
Just observe the enemies, once they start casting immediately change your direction. Et voilá, you've just dodged their attacks. Add in that most players have a habit of running straight up towards someone and then as soon as they're in range, fire their spells. Not clever. Really not clever. But meh, those can't dodge either so it basically allways goes like this:
Enemy: Lol noob!
*runs up casts orb*
Me: *dodge*
*cast orb back*
+1 Score
Enemy: wtfz0r, haaax!!

A tip: Don't try to hide behind any 'solid' objects such as poles/pillars, trees and others. It doesn't block the attack.
Wacky
I think some do block the attack. You get an obstructed message if you try to shoot through the pillars in the elevated areas on the two sides of the map.

run in front of the party, then u see 4 ppl from the other team rushing towards u. at which point u run back and u'll see them keep on chasing u and not worrying about ur team lol.
General Typhus
Some Crazy "Beni Mo" guy. Would be the last one standing on our team and drop 3-4 of the enemies before going down/retreating.
Tookis Elite
uh, id say im pretty good in there, i barely ever die.
im one of those peope that runs ahead of everyone just to go po the other team cuz 6 cant kill 1 person. but now im at my dads, and his comp sux....and i cant dodge anymore
i miss the good old days of owning in there!

the 3 teams that i was successfull with (8 wins+) had some things in common.
1) they all went for battle in the middle of the field.
if it comes to a battle in the open the team with better skills wins.
if the enemy team tries to hold the spot on the side there is a trading of kills with a slight advantage for the upper team but after the respawn they are divided and get mashed.
2) they all used tactics that involved more then 2 players with everyone aware tactical situation.
the only matches that where close were when the other team used the same tactics.
and to the ppl that say ping doesn't matter. if both players in a 1vs1 situation are equal the one with the better ping wins. sometimes u are dead before the other begins to cast. the server knows it but u see it 1 second later.
i love dragonball. it is derived from dodgeball which was developed by players and shows that anet takes a look at the community

:/
The Dragon Arena's best tactic is to go to the high ground and wait for people rushing at you. They will shoot at the stairs, you walk back so they hit the wall, you walk back to the stairs and you get a free shot.
But the Arena is a bit too laggy for dodging imho. Sometimes I apperantly get hit, stand still for 4 seconds, and then suddenly die :/....

Rank 48
I never died. Ever.
Times I've captured HoH: I've never failed to win it.
I've never stayed in a guild for more than 42 seconds. They just can't keep up.
*May be complete fabrication.

Although I live in America and also play in American servers, I seem to lag even when perfectly dodging the orbs.

This topic isn't about pimping yourself or talking about lag.

Dunno what the big deal with this arena is. The snowball fights were better. Although the game when the emperor shows up is better thought out than the grenches and presents.
Nevin
You're putting too much thought into this..

It's just always best to dodge shots and only shoot at enemies if they're attacking someone else on your team (very easy to watch the radar and see who the enemies are moving toward to shoot).

If people come rush at you from the stairs its just very easy to dodge their blasts, and you can run back very fast to shoot them.
And the arena lagged quite a lot so dodging wasn't always possible in open field.
BlueSS
It was a real Dragon Arena marathon, it took almost 6 hours to get 60 wins I left after 61 wins
Eviance
For those of you saying there is no skill involved, I would disagree to an extent. Yeah it has a little to do with lagging but if you ever played dodgeball its at least mostly skill. I did a one on one against almost a full team when I played dodgeball. (My team was dead!) I managed to take out 2 of them and last a good amount of time before they finally killed me.
Its not "kiting" its Q & E, use them
