Gaile Gray

Let me start out by saying, i appreciate Gaile, i respect her position and what she does for the community, but its times like these that make me question how much really cares.

So it starts off by going to District 7 where she was and asking a Simple question, "Do you consider the Tengu event to have been successful or a failure and bad planning on your part"
to which she answers "we found it extremely succesful",
So i caller her out nicely on that and told her about how The community wasnt too happy about how the even was handled, all the angry posts on forums , and suddendly i was on her ignore list.

If Arenanet is thinking 1 thing, and the players are saying another,
This implies that a level of communication is missing between us here and the devs, i wonder what or who that level is.

So i hung around in id 7, and sat around, this emperor event was supposed to start 2 hours ago, and as you all know, alot of people were angry because the event was tos tart 2 hours ago, and there was NO word from anyone official on WHY, a 150 + post thread here with NO REPLY FROM GAILE, NOTHING.
No link of communication between us and the devs, because Gaile Gray is too busy sitting in id7 answer questions about mini pets,
The fact that there are 10's of thousands of angry players seeking answers, maybe official word on what had happened , why the event did not start at the time posted on their site, it was of more importance of gaile gray to sit in ID 7 telling someone that there is no new armors untill chapter 3.


So i ask all you gaile worshippers, What are her priorities? Whats more important to her, Relaying information from The Devs to US the communtiy (community relations manager) or to answer questions about mini pets and armors, at a time where thousands of angry players are sitting around a district idlely, what are her priorities?

Never mind. These mini missions are way to dificult for a random noob like me. I couldn't care less, unless I gathered 2000 orbs for nothing.
I am playing the game like always. I kill something, find a mantic pincer and kill some more. There seems to be more than only Shing Jea Monastery, but I don't care. Factions lags like hell, but lucky for me Guild Wars is not the only free online game.

Kudos to Gaile though on being the flame sponge for all A-Nets broken promises.

IF this is true, it is a valid topic which i dont see needs locking, the problem is of course, do you have screen shots.

There is a problem with lack of communication, gaile is earning a reputation for only posting on positive or easy questions, some of this is underserved as some people do post some "i hate anet, gails sucks" rubbish, but some is deserved.

Some people will get offendid by this, but like or lump its a good point with some truth in it.

Gaile 'ignores' everybody, by putting herself on "do not disturb" or some auto-ignore everyone thingy. She did not enter your name personally!

Its quite true. Gaile seems to only answer on happy things.
I asked her about the tradingsystem (that you can scam people really easy) and about the storage room. She only answert: there is nothing wrong.
But also on these 2 topics loads of people posted that they have been scammed with gold-traders. (a person quickly changes 40 K into 40 gold)

Only thing i got was report it. we will work on it.

I stopped reporting ages ago. I just play the game now, and leave the bugs for what they are.

This thread is interesting and as there aern't any real flames yet, I would like to have this thread kept open and more discussed. There seems to be an issue on wether Gaile is individually ignoring players with concerns about the game.

Do we need to prove that she's ignoring us? Well we don't have screenshots so we can't possibly prove it to anyone. But nobody has proof that she is using her "do not disturb" ability either.

If Gaile really didn't want to be flooded with messages from players asking her questions, then why even bother logging in at all with her character? She could have simply bought a new account and played with anonymity.

I am disturbed that she's avoiding discussing the ingame issues with the players. Either giving vague short answers or simply putting herself on "do not disturb" mode or whatever.

I haven't spoken to Gaile myself, but from my point of view, she shouldn't be logging in just to place her status to "do not disturb" whenever she comes across a difficult question.

please note this thread is not anti gaile or gaile bashing at all, so please do not steer the thread the wrong way so it leads to a closure.

i for one appreciate what she does for the community, the fact that shes there to relay us between the devs and players, the thing that really bugged me was today when for 2 hours people had no idea what was going on , 80 + districts full of people waiting for the event at the time scheduled, now, if there was something wrong on ANETS end which would have caused the delay, thats fine, life isnt perfect, but i feel it is our right as paying customers to be informed, there was NO official word saying anything, on gwonline there was a 150 + post thread with confused players looking for answers, and not a single reply from Gaile, even though she was online and in id7 answering questions about mini pets and armors and new emotes. i mean dont get me wrong, i really do appreciate her position, and because of her alot of our suggestions have been implemented, but sometimes it just feels like our concerns are ignored, and only positive feedback is taken seriously.

galie org was a good idea but i think the executation is lacking.

I check the logs every now and than and shes talking about sandwhichs. I dont care what you had for lunch i wanna know when the storage system is going to get put into place? when chars can carry more than 100k give the inflation and the amount of stalking pileing driving up prices. I also want a firm answer and not something that summer last until this date. I am quickly becoming annoyed with GW and the state of the game. I also think a lot of people are realizing this and leaving. I have seen many people leave the game and no signs of them coming back. I know they have a lot of copies sold but how many of those are actual players and not bots/second accts/ or players who left the game. Also is there enough content and players to support a 3rd chapter. We already see declines in tyria what will happen with the next chapter comes out.

Some of Gaile's knowledge of the actual game has really got me thinking. I think a spokesperson should be a person that actually PLAYS the game and knows what people are thinking, and not just coming on every month to answer obvious questions and be worshipped. example: earlier today during the dragon event gaile talked about the rank/fame system and didn't know that is was account based.

Gaile can only speak out on something if Arenanet and NCSoft let her. Don't blame her on the lack of communication on popular subjects like unhappy customers. It's worth her job to her if she speaks out of turn.

Well tear, the last time i checked these forums were a place for players to gather and discuss the game, the state of the game, issues within, ask questions, and just hang out.

Gaile is the Community Relations Manager, and her job is to answer questions we might have, provide us with insight of what the devs do, and their reasons, She is the how we get our info to the Devs and Vice Versa, So when i personally feel that this source of communication has weakened, more questions go by unanswered, less involvent in our concerns and our issues, and more into easy simple questions like "are we getting new armor in c3" or "r u adding new mini petz??", rather then addressing the concerns shown and expressed by players, i feel that we have a right to discuss this issue

Imho the real problem with Gaile is, that basically everyone seems to think that he or she should have Gaile's personal and complete Attention and that their question should be favored above all others.
Though this may now sound as a flame. That's just not the way it is. Trading system or Alliance Battles or whatever grief there might be currently might be oh so important in boards like these. But as a matter of fact, boards are only visited by a minority of players.
So if one of the Devs is online and is permanently spammed with questions about Minipets (no one really knows, except the Devs, what the whole community might REALLY have interest in) but only an occasional "what happened to the trade system", the Dev will answer what was asked the most. Simple enough.

Just imagine it like this:

Who is the one to blame now? The community is! For asking silly things again and again instead of pressing the issues. And in all honesty, to the person who was saying she should never be allowed to activate "Do not disturb"... thats just bullshit what you stated there. I'm in no way an important person in Guildwars, but at times i'm drowning in whispers from other people. Sometimes bad enough for the chat to flood me. Now imagine, i'm just an unimportant person in Guild Wars. Do you have ANY idea how the chat might look like if you were an A-Net Employee? Only a slight idea? It won't be spammy at times it will allways be spammy. You want to know how bad? Go to Kaineng Center 1, state that you're giving away free Crystallines. Watch your chat explode. Multiply by 10 and you've got a faint idea of how the Devs can suffer from chat. Give them a moment of peace on THEIR character.

I'm not a Gaile worshipper as you bluntly flamebaited. I for my part read a few of the chats and found that they stated nothing new for me and the information was very vague so i basically, well, just stopped reading those. What's the problem? Same as with the scribe, people bitch and moan while they could just stop reading it if they're that agressive about it.


The problem can be described in one sentence:
Individual players that think they're speaking for the community in a whole

You don't know what the community really wants, i do neither. Seeing "countless posts" is still just a minority. And even 1.000 /signed won't prove much in the end.

I'm not entirely sure how to word my thoughts, so I'll just spill them and separate as best I can.

I was not happy with the timing of this event. Specifically the schedule of the emperor was not well known, and should have been. Everyone I spoke to assumed the emperor would show up at midnight pacific and start things off. Anet/NCSoft was not clear on that and they should have been. If there was a hiccup in the schedule, the players should have been notified. Gaile Gray, as community rep, should have addressed the issue, even if it was merely to say that she didn't know what was going on.

As in most things that happen within this game, the communication is not clear. For example, pre-ordering Factions. Much of the info surrounding that was imprecise and muddled. Time after time the players are let down, and that's not good for business or for the players.

You intentionally baited her into an arguement. Further, the 'angry' people are only a fraction of those involved in the Tengu event. I personally, had no issues of any kind because I planned accordingly.

There's no clear indication that anything was going to happen @ midnight PST. ..because of this, I assumed the first occurance would be either midnight or 2am. Again.. the planning accordingly..

As for her priorities? I want her to keep doing what she's been doing. You want her to do what you want. So which of us gets to control her?
