They are a gift i understand, but i dont see why that isnt a reason to not sell them.
Eventually everyone will have a mini pet, and most will sell theres. Theres going to be much more money in the economy, which can mess things up.

Why? I don't see any reason not to, if the new item makes me happier...
And giving gifts away is not contradictory to "the principal of life"... and you can't always get what you want in life, but that doesn't mean you can't try to get it, and can't sometimes get it.

Leave minipets the way they are. They're great fun, they're collectable, tradable, profitable. Why change that?

2 things

Firstly Mini pets do not create money, it simply moves from 1 person to another, and from what ive seen (which is not evidence but then neither is anything else anyone says), the people who make money from them are people who get lucky, be they rich or poor.

And lets say that they did create money, which they dont. With your logic anything that inflates the economy should be removed, Fow, Ecto, Greens, Special skins, Amber, Jade blablalblaa.

EDIT, point 3

More conjecture without evidence.

Why?

This is nothing more than a statement, "you must not give them because of principle", what principle, whats the reasoning, whats the logic, you have simply made a statement. Explain to me using logic why i cant sell something i am given.

What is wrong with them? It allowed some people to make some gold, and allowed new players access to an item that they wouldn't be allowed to get. It didn't really benifit the rich, they have as much chance as anyone to get a rare pet or a common one. What it may have allowed is for the people who can play the market very well another trading market to conquer.

Look at it any way you want, but its still a present. Something given to you. A way for Anet to say thanks. And you're still complaining.

I guess if Anet saw the mini pets as being the kind of gift you shouldn't give away then they would have customized them from the start.

That said, I can't understand why people would want to buy one before they have earned it - it would be a big anti-climax for me then when I actually did get one for my character's birthday.

I dont think that they should be customized, I created all my chars around the same time so I get 4 Mini pets all at once and I dont really need one, so I plan to give them away within my guild, to people who are newer to GW and further away from earning their own pet. I think we should be able to do what we want with them.

As far as being able to choose them yourself, I dunno about that. I am happy to get what I have, its free and its extra.

No I dont think they should be customized. I have 6 characters and what if I want one to have the troll today, and next week a different one to have it? If they were customized I couldnt switch them around.

Methinks the ones that complain the most about minipets are the ones who didnt get a "rare" one to make gold off of. I would also point out the entire minipet trade does cause more positive player interaction which I think is a good thing.

If mini pets had come pre customised, there would be even more whining in the GW forums about how they should be tradeable.

I received a mini-pet (Kirin) as a birthday present (for my rl birthday). This would not have been possible had the pets been customized. I appreciate this gift far more than the ones my toons automatically received on their one-year anniversaries because the gift has sentimental value.

Why should they if you got Gold to waste on Mini-pet go a head..
should perfect item's be customized att the minute they hit the ground so you can't make gold of them?

I agree. Why should anyone care what I do with MY pet? I'd like to hear one good reason why anyone should tell me what I can and can't do with it (as long as it doesn't violate EULA rules obviously). If I want to sell it, so what? If I want to keep it and call it muffinstroodles, so what? If someone is willing to pay 50 to 100k for it and I'm willing to sell it, so what? The key word is willing. No one is pointing a gun to anyone's head to force them to buy minipets. So why are you trying to point a gun at my head and say I can't?

I dont think they should have been customized unless you were allowed to chose which one you got. I would be dissapointed in getting 2 fungal wallows and a whiptail devourer and not having a chance to get anything else.

ANet brought in mini pets to chars a year old. I dont think they were meant to be the new big seller in the market. All event masks come pre customized so you cant sell them. Why should you be able to sell mini pets? They were a gift from ANet. Discuss.

EDIT: Personally, I think the way ANet should of done it was you got to choose the mini pet you wanted and it came customized. That way you'd be happy with what you got and you wouldnt be able to sell. All pets come white, no greens, golds, etc so people wont think one is more valubale.
I am not understanding something. Because it is a gift from Anet, it should be customized?
Think of it this way, hats, weapons, etc, it makes sense that they can be customized. Get your hat adjusted to the right size to fit your rangers head, that makes sense. Get a bow grip on your bow, carve it a little so it fits your rangers hand, that makes sense. It doesn't make sense that a minipet would be customized.

No they shouldn't be customized. As mentioned by others, the only way they should be customized is if you get to pick which one you wanted. Not too many people will be happy if they were stuck with one that they didn't want. At least this way you can buy or trade for the one you want. I got two of the collector ed. mini pets. I don't really care for them, nor do I want to stand in town with the other 8 people selling it for 100K + ectos, so they're sitting in storage. I wanted a charr shaman and bought one. Neither one of my accts are 1 year old yet, let alone any of my current characters. At least this way I get what I want, not one less slot in storage.

No way, I made over 400k from selling mine. The ability to sell was a nice volutary wealth redistribution.
If they had been customized, they probably would have just ended up in my trash since I'm out of space.

well... i unfortunately started all my charcters over not too long ago, for the purpose of having a little extra fun. So, this mini pet slapped me in the face. I'm not keen on waiting a half a year just to get a pet, so i'll buy them when i want. I think it was smart of them to keep mini pets tradeable.

I think a "mini-me" option would have been cool, as in Austin Powers.

I just got a mountain troll. It roars.

I like the way it is for the simple fact that I can swap it between my own characters, so whomever I feel like playing can have the mountain troll at their ankles.

Don't care about people selling or not.

I think the intention was this: mini-pets are the Guild Wars Version of trading cards. Some people collect them and some don't. You are free to trade them, give them away, or sell them. I, personally, have traded them and given them to friends as gifts. I'm hoping that in the future some sort of kennel (Mini-pet storage similar to the material storage coming soon) is provided so that they don't take up so much inventory space.
