Accounts inactive for 6 months should have CHARACTERS' NAMES up for grabs!!

GW accounts inactive for 6+ months should have their characters' names be up for grabs. I notice there are some good character names that are taken by players that I havn't seen sign on for 6 months to 1 yr, and they probably abandoned Guild Wars! Their character names should be erased to allow dedicated Guild Wars players more possiblities in naming their characters. And should these characters with erased names sign on a again, they would be prompted to type in a new character name before playing with that character. What do you guys think??

No way. If a name you want is already chosen, just get creative and choose another. First come, first serve.

Because of the 2 name system, it's nearly impossible to have a name already be taken as long as it was origional, and not the name of someone from a show or something like that. The only time I've had a problem with an origional name being taken was when I tried naming a female warrior Rayne Darkfang or something like that.

NO, b/c I for one had to take a 3 month brake from GW, so some people who are unable to log on or maybe want to come back should not lose their character's name.

Definitely not. I bought the game when it came out, but was forced to take a 6 month break because I couldn't play it at uni. Everything was there when I went back to it, just like it should be.

When I made my warrior I was going to give it the name of my favorite boxer. The pound for pound best fighter in the world, any of you who like boxing knows who that is. Well, the name was taken. I was not surprised really, but I added the person because it seems like there aren't a whole lot of boxing fans these days. I thought we could chat about boxers one day. So, a month later the person logs in and I say hi. I explained myself and asked if it was their favorite boxer too. Apparently there is a band with the same name. They had no idea what I was talking about! It was super funny, but also very disapointing.

Ontopic, I don't see the need really, just be creative with your names, and whoom. The 'must be two words' system used here (mostly) allows lot of creativity and pretty easy to avoid selecting an already used name, unless the said name is some popular superhero etc.

When I finally got back into the "World I Once Knew", all of my gaming aliases were secure. None of my accounts were deleted (friends saved my Blizzard ones), none of my names taken. I could hapily resume gaming as I had before.
Yeah, so you're probably posting this because you want somebody else's name. Sorry to sound harsh, but tough luck. Would you want your character name stolen from you due to circumstances beyond your control?

Instead, they DO need to pay attention to the large name change function thread. They have a system for bad names, so it should not be to difficult to either allow say /changeplayername ingame or via website. They could use the db code that is done for bad names and expand it for use on web or ingame.

This is the worst idea a kid has came up with yet, i mean...this is even worse then that thread about mending is a good spell and some "Genius" decide to post therotical numbers and whatnot, totally forgetting the point that your getting attacked the same time....anyways dumb idea, 6 month offline and your name is ganked? please son, i go out to sea for 6-8 months at a time for MY job. not every one can work at mcdonalds and get to come home to their families every day and log on some game. if this happend, ill stop playing guild wars and stick with wow.
