I'm a N/Me in-game. I've just reached The Wilds in Prophecies. While trying to get a group, most people asks me whether I'm SS or not.
When I asked them what is SS, I get rejected from the group application and if I'm already in a group, I get kicked out most of the time.
So... for the record, can anyone tell me what exactly is SS? And how shall I go around working on this... 'build'? Thanks in advance.
A few questions.

SS = Spiteful Spirit. Its a pretty good Curses Elite Spell which is used to farm UW as an "SS Necro". There are lots of builds around, try using the search engine or Guild Wiki. Good luck

And since the only way for you to get SS is to get ran through the game which kinda ruins the experience you can do this.
If they ask. Say yes you are. They will most likely accept you into their group. Then just do what you normally do. And tada you have a group. Now people in the group might figure out your not SSing and start to yell at you but hey its just a game.
That is one way of going about it

Good luck in finding a more understanding group. In my experience...those looking for specific builds are just interested in rushing through an area and not enjoying the game.

SS can also refer to the combination of Spinal Shivers and Spiteful Spirit.

TBH, I'm not sure how I would handle this. At the Wilds, you are no where's near the point in the game where you can get Spiteful Spirit, so it's obviously not needed to finish the area you are in. I guess if they are the only group around, I might be tempted to say what I needed to in order to get in the group, but then again, they have the right to choose who and what they want.

Asking what build you're equipped with should be something done before accepting someone into a party - if you're inclined to be picky about what team build you want. I'm more inclined to ask "What build are you running?" just for informational purposes, as it's not that important in PvE to have specific team builds to get things done. (example: the all Monk team that beat THK) There are very few standard PvE places that beg for the use of specific skills, such as Winter in the RoF missions.
Former Ruling
You only need Winter in the LAST mission, not all of them
and thats only if an ele in your group refuses to be anything but fire.

Anyway, yea, there are standard builds everyone and their momma runs in Pve cant really solve it, just find a group that lets you in.
SS is though, Spiteful Spirit, capped in the SOuthern Shiverpeaks, which you havent been too yet, but they STILL expect you to have it in the jungle, because everyone just gets run to Southern Shiverpeaks when they start a character anyway.
Spiteful Spirit is, too most, the best PvE Necro skill (or best pve skill in general) in the game.
15e, 2 cast, 10 recharge
For 8-18 seconds, whenever target foe attacks or uses a skill, Spiteful Spirit deals 5-29 shadow damage to that foe and all adjacent foes.
Ok Cost, Ok Cast, Awesome Recharge, Awesome Duration, Doesn't cause the AoE scatter, and does the most dmg of ANY CLASS as long as the enemies are grouped together, like they always are in PvE.
Thats why it is so popular for a necro to bring. YOu are /me so they expect you to be doing Arcane Echo and SS together, putting Spiteful on 2-3 of the enemies in the group, basically making them drop in 2 secs...
SS/SV is also a popular duo farming build for the favor locations. You get a 55 monk to tank (55 means they have 55 health, and prot spirit on, so they only take 5 dmg a hit - so they can tank alot of enemies), and the necro does the dmg by putting SS on a couple of the monsters. SV is a mesmer skill Sympathic Visage, it makes monsters attacking the 55 lose all adrenaline and 3 energy, which helps ALOT with a few certain monsters that yuou dont want to have energy.
