Question about getting Factions

I already have 4 Characters from prophesies. If I get Factions, do I have to delete one of my characters or will there be empty character slots to make a new character for Factions.

You get two new slots.

You get two slots if you choose to merge factions with your existing account. This gives your current characters access to cantha, and any canthan characters access to tyria along with access to skills unique to either location. If you choose to not merge, then you get 4 new slots and neither set of characters has access to the content in the other chapter.
