That does work, though I would just stick to the damage spirits.

But the defensive Ritual Lord > All in PvE.

For it to be an "effective" build you'd need Boon of Creation. Also consider other attacking spirits that hinder the enemy, instead of just doing plain damage.
Make those changes and i'd consider it an "effective" build.

It involves those ritualists who use Ritual Lord and primarily focus on spirits like Shelter, Union and Distortion rather than offensive spirits like pain.

A similar build I once observed dumped all of their attribute points into Communing and then Restoration magic and they used other spirits such as Life and Recuperation along with those stated above and 'Feast of Souls' (?) which proved very effective with good spirit placement.

(that's what I think she was refering to anyway)

My main issue is damage toword the end of the game. Will this still be dropping baddies at that point?

Well your dmg is armor ignoring if nothing else, but i didnt go dmg in late game, since i capped RLord n wanted to try it.

Dropping baddies? You can beat Shiro with henchies. Lemme copy paste:

Beating Shiro with 1-man-army Ritualist

You run up near Shiro, and stop just before aggro range (after cutscene). Then:

I'm using Pain!
I'm using Bloodsong!
I'm using Wanderlust!
I'm using Shadowsong!
I'm using Dissonance!

Run up n smack him with wand, send henchies on attack and:

I'm using Painful Bond!
I'm using Celestial Skill!

...when Painful Bond recharges, re-cast it.

GG.

-------

The 8th skill is Charm Animal, but if you dont need Phoenix, you can take something else It should be noted that i didnt even use Celestial Sigil first time i got masters on this.. i didnt want to ruin my skillbar i had then. But that was with a PUG.

As for henchies, no eles. Im not expert in this mission, but doesnt Shiro have a skill which heals depending on the highest dmg he received in some period of time? So, technically, causing a bunch of small dmg might be better (thus, spirits are perfect).

In any case, Ritualist reigns supreme once again.. artillery ftw

Here is a build I'm using currently, and it seems to do alright:

Rt/R - Pet/Spirit Build

16 Comm.
12 Beast Mastery
Rest into Spawning Power

Pain
Bloodsong
Wanderlust
Flesh of my Flesh
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal
Pet Attack (interchangeable, whatever you want)
Pet Attack " "

It's based around damage, of course. With a little placement prep before a fight, then send in your pet and attack from the back lines, it works really well in a team environment. What I really like is, when your Rituals recharge, you can re-cast them and still activate the pet attacks while casting.

Just drop Doom - no way to use it effectively with Rt lord - spirits gonna recharge too fast. And taking Boon of creation would be good idea as was stated before.
