Canthan Elementalist Bosses

Has the damage that Canthan Ele bosses do been dropped recently?
I remember that when I was capping all of the Ele skills it was like throwing bodies in a meat-grinder. Even with no DP, they would take a whole henchie team out in 2 or 3 spells. But now they seem a lot tamer...
Am I imagining things?
I'm not complaining of course, a badly placed Ele boss could really screw things up previously; the Saltspray Dragon boss in Unwaking Waters and the Dragon Turtle boss in Archipelagos come to mind.

For sure - that Saltspray Dragon in Unwaking Waters is a nasty little git - took me about an hour and a half to capture Ride the Lightening off of him. Ultimately worth it. It may not be the best skill but it's one of the most fun!!
I don't feel the elementalist bosses have got any less harsh though - they still do their utmost best to pulverise the crap out of me whenever I get close!

That ele boss in archiapelagos was the hardest elite to cap I've ever tried to cap.

You people have piss poor henchmen control. o.O
Learn to use control shift spacebar from longbow distance to your aggro. It sends the warriors in far ahead of you.

I'm in definite aggreement -- the ele bosses are freakin wicked in Factions, straight across the board (ok except Koosun but that's a different matter).

the only ele boss i've fought was lian, i've soloed her many times (in hopes got getting the lantern, which hasnt droped yet) it does take a while to kill her, although she doesent really pose a big threat.

Oh dear god, wasn't it?
I actually gave up and went back the next day.
And CHUIU, I know all about the benefits of ctrl-shift targetting. This comment of yours leads me to believe that you haven't tried Snapjaw Windshell or Kurvie Firewing. Kurvie is ESPECIALLY irritating if your faction isn't currently in control of the zone and you forget to bribe the priest. Back to outpost for you!
The reason I ask if they've been tamed down a bit is that another boss that caused me horrendous problems before, Wavecrest Stonebreak in Rhea's Crater, was a lot easier when I ran into him recently.

Prot Spirit and Shelter for the win. Capping Second Wind with both was a breeze. Full hench, no deaths.
I haven't noticed that they've been dealing less damage. They're still mass murdering my parties.

Nah, I'm afraid I have to disagree - I ran into Wavecrest the other day - we killed all of his little buddies but that bad boy just would not go down. In the end he killed off all our Henchmen, so my Monk and I (the only two human players) ran away and good old Wavecrest dondered on on his merry way... We went back to res all of the henchmen after that. I'll be avoiding him for sure in the future. One encounter is quite enough.

Hehehe, I think it might be down to the fact that I ambushed him while he was fighting some outcasts.
Good to know the ornery old bugger is still laying the smack down

Yep, I had a run-in with Wavecrest 2 days ago. He is still a bit on the tough side! He just does not want to die.

I'm noticing a common theme here...
Perhaps a Wavecrest Extermination Squad is called for.
I'm thinking a secret order of 8 determined individuals, unified with one common goal. Matching uniforms is called for, and maybe a theme song... "Wavecrest, Wavecrest, How we want you dead..."
Hmmm...maybe not - didn't really think that through.

Incidentally, just wondering, has anyone actually ever taken on Wavecrest 1v1? I would be interested to hear how it went! I just started a Mesmer character and wondered if it would be doable with her...
[Edit: I just found out -
- HAA HAA > Wavecrest Stonebreak's unique item is called "The Stonebreaker" - So...So original!!!]

I don't have every elementalist elite out there in Factions or in Prophecies, but I've captured many, if not most. (I have every fire elite in Factions+Prophecies and a lot of other ones too.) I don't think I've ever tried to cap Ride the Lightning, so maybe that is ridiculously difficult, but IMO ele caps are 10x easier in Factions than in Prophecies...any caps for that matter. For example, I have yet to find a Factions ele elite that was harder to cap than Glyph of Energy, although that was because of the Avicara more than the boss itself. Still, even though Factions ele bosses are way overpowered, they are much more accessible, and generally easier to cap from.

yea lian is easy, but never seems to drop for me either.
I still found that others besides her were still capable of wiping me out in no time at all.

Yea whoever the brainfart at Anet was who put in bosses that can AoE crit for 500+ needs to be dragged into the street and shot in public.

That Dragon Stomp skill is pretty brutal
Evilsod
Never mind the ele boss in Archilepigos... to reach that i always took the route through the Rit Channeling Boss. Who raped the henchman just as badly.
A word of warning.... never go as a trapper if your group is killing Kunvie as a skillcap... 200+ infernos in Ranger armour ftw... This was the same trip i trapper the Shrouded Oni and successfully used the entire teams res signets in 30 seconds by been floored again before i could even get Throw Dirt off.
Koosan is a funny boss, Shelter > Starburst. Drain Enchantment > Silver Armour. Here have a morale boost...
By far the most irritating ele boss is the Lightning Surge 1 en route to Gyala. I hate that damn boss, only killed it without a mass hench massacre once.

I remember when I first started taking my characters over to Cantha, "I'm gonna start an ele and echo dragon stomp these %&$@&!"
Seriously, what's with all the beefy mass-slaughtering ele spells now in this game? If you're playing a character that doesn't specialize in interrupting or domination, rely on daemon or panaku? That's not really a challenge when everyone dies after a couple of spells. lol

ele bosses are too buffed... one of their hits is enough to decimate a party..... it depends on the boss you fight and the skills they use but most of them can do it. this is espeically hard when your rolling henchies trying to cap elites... if they lowered damage then its for the better.

Rather than simply nerf elementals as a class there is an easier solution.
Let 21+ mobs keep their Health/Energy/AL/Any Unique abilities they may have.
Lower their attribute caps to the max a player could have, or rather at most the skill should cap at 20.
Part of the current problem is the passive increase to spell crit seen when an NPC/Boss has a skill of 28+. So while the base damage may only be a +20-100ish spike over player dmg, the crits become far more noticable, and in the case of ele especially it becomes crazy.
There also appears to be a bug of sorts when the skill system goes over the player caps. For example spell such as Protective Spirit totally bug out against 21+ npc spells. I've had plenty of bosses still crit for 230+ with this spell on. Given as 10% 480 is 48, and not 230..clearly something is awry.
Just some rantings

Oh, for SURE! I don't know what it is about that boss, but the Henchies certainly seem to LOVE getting killed by him! They just like to wander up to him, even if we're tyring so hard to skirt around him. He also seems to be able to spot you from miles off also, which never helps. Perhaps a good mesmer is needed - to remove the hex before it kocks you over and deals the damage...
