I know you need three to four slots to lay down fat combo's but skills should a assassin use so that he isnt dying constantly? I know that this is the main reason that they cannot seem to find groups

the assassin comes with a wide range of skills for avoiding dmg.. there's dodgeing stances, there's teleporting skills, speed boosts that ignore half dmg unless you attack, and even elites that let you take no dmg from most types of attacks.

which to use, depends on how you like to play. i personaly like teleporting- while others prefer to stand there and dodge. the only thing you have to remember - avoiding dmg = good : healing dmg = bad.

but you'd still need to heal at times.

I prefer to get in and out with AoD, using sharpen blades and critical eye, with GLS as a starter (since AoD is a enchantment)

But solo, for me its echo and shadow form, with Shadow refuge for some health.

The more I play my mesmer, the better I get with my assassin dagger mode for some reason. However you do it, just unleash damage, and then get out of it, however you do it. One of the random jumps will at least break combat, and then doubleclick on the name of a party member to the rear, run at least part way, heal if you have to, pick a new target, unleash damage.

Kill the target if you can, but if you are taking damage while doing it, just don't. Playstyles are very individual and you really have to select skills to fit your playstyle.

When with player groups, remember that one of the assassin functions is to protect your own casters. Especially monks, who will then be your friends!
