For about 3 or 4 days ago a strange problem occurd.. All people and sometimes even I, warp around: It's like a lag! Very annoying. Everybody Jump forward like chess pieces. Have you had the same problem as me?.. I have tried many things like uninstalling the game and tweaking my computer but nothing works. If you know anything about this. please report the solution to me!

Strange problem mate, probably it will work out eventually.. Could be the servers aswell.. When factions got released, it was pretty sketchy and laggy for everyone.. Especially in the bigger towns, good luck.

Right now, io cant play cause of that. it has been like that for me at least 2 weeks now.
i have a great connection, i dont lag in anything else besides GW.
everyone is teleporting and jumping in the minimap, if i click on an NPC im teleported to the NPC, but i cant talk to him, its just like lag.
i have been exchanging mails with Anet for some time now, but they cant solve it, and im sure the problem isnt in my end...

The strange thing is that at one time i can play great, without any sort of lag and the other time i lag as hell.

Same as me!
I get ported to the npc and my character just stands there like a dummy like "What next? ^_^"
Also monsters do it too.... it gets REALLY annoying when a monster pings to my location, or right infront of me when really its with its patrol group far in the distance out of aggro range... i end up clicking and attacking a mob thats miles away.. because i think it has aggroed me
I now know its not my end, as others experience this issue.
Oh, another thing... sometimes when i run around corners, i get warped back around the corner into the most awkward positions that make me need to wriggle my way out again... and it does it more than once every time it does it... this is HIGHLY irritating when running from aggro... as i get warped into the corner then take a beating while trying to run away

I seem to be suffering from the same lag problems.
I have a cable internet connection 512kbs and rarely lag out in other games. Recently however I've noticed that my character jerks alot when running and monsters will port in front of me before I initiate my attack with them.
Farming bosses solo has now become impossible as I could once do this with ease. PvP alliance battles becomes very difficult too now as I'm seeing more of the pathing problems and lagging backwards when going up ramps or round corners. My connection has dropped once from a result of lagging out spells locking etc, though mostly I just see the annoying things happen like above.
Seems to happen around certain times. I'm starting to think it's due to my network traffic in my local region. Playing in peak times seems to be the worst.

I have that when my virus scanner is updating. It stops when it's finished updating.

you people are complaining about lag, but i can't even connect to GW on my pc anymore and i just played it. I still can play it on my old pc, but there i have that (somekind of) lag too, but that pc is really slow so by me it isn't lag but it is just that it is to slow. anyone knows what to do?? i already updated my router, rebooted the pc, looked with the official netinfotool_allos_gw.exe (wich i downloaded from GW site) and i found out that my ports were open so that can't be the problem, i tried it without virusscan but that didn't help :S
Balmung Of The Azure Sky
i dont lag anymore, but i dont know a specific reason.
what i did was:
after windows update downloads stuff, you install and then he asks for a restart, before you restart, go to the control panel and disable windows auto updates.
then restart.
after that, my GW is working fin again.
but i have no way of knowing tis is what fixed it. it just appened to me

I have the lag too, but not near that severe. We are on cable and everything on my PC is tiptop as well... Heck I even shut down anything extra before attempting to play. There are 3 of us running on our connection and if they lag too then I know its my connection, but usually its just me and I am dirrectly connected to the modem.
I think GW is just buggy right now and that the servers are being wierd or something. I also noticed just after the Festival that I was tripping over imaginary objects again >_< So annoying to be running along and just stop on a very clearly plain area with no obstruction in sight! *sighs*

Lag here too. I havent been able to play properly for 3 days. But its not the first time this happens... last time this hapened i had lag for 3 weeks >.< Then one beautifull day i tryed to connect and i got the message that the game was down for maintenence. A few hours later i tryed again and voila... no lag at all. Untill 3 days ago... Imo, everyone having this problem should send an e-mail reporting it to ncsoft support team. The more people complaining, the faster they will look into it ^^

Ok I got lag yesterday and here are the facts.
My internet connection was fuctioning at peak speeds.
My frame rate was dropping from 60 frames to 12 frames and back. I changed the settings durring the game and no change.
I verified that no other app was taking CPU or ram.
So I was lagging for no reason. My computer is more then enough to handle the game and even at lower settings there was no change. This game is going down hill.

Sometimes I use my laptop to play Guild Wars, sometimes I use my brother's computer. My laptop tends to have a lot of lag issues, but they're not internet-related. My brother's computer is sweet, he almost always loads first, except when we have internet lag.
A couple weeks ago, I was doing Arborstone on my brother's comp, and I was receiving 5-minute lag (I do /dance, and my char starts dancing 5 minutes later) and I crashed 4 or 5 times. I switched to my laptop, and even though the game didn't run as fast, I had a perfect connection.
Alliance battles are pretty laggy, I think it's because of high internet use (There's 23 other people, some might use Dial Up) and high CPU use (if there's 4 MM's, that's roughly 40 minions that your computer has to handle. Throw in a pet or two, and that's quite a lot of stuff)

From reading the posts, I believe most of you are just experienceing some form of latency, or other bandwidth issues.
Having a high-speed connection does not neccessarily mean that you will be lag free. Lag is based more off of your upload speeds rather than your download speeds. Many ISPS (cable especially) limit your allotted upload bandwidth to that little better than a 56k connection. So, while you may be downloading at 300kbps, you may only be uploading at 20kbps. This causes the latency. The way most games work is by sending exchanging information with the server. You have to send info to the server to receive info.
Also, you have to consider the route your connection is taking to the server. You don't have a direct connection to the Guild Wars server. It probably passes through many different hosts on its way. For Example:
As you can see, the request passes through 17 different hosts before reaching the destination. That can slow down the process quite a bit, especially if one of those hosts is a bit slow. That can also have an effect on why you get high download speeds from one website, and low speeds from another.
Also, as Balmung reported, another program running in the background may be taking up bandwidth. If you have Windows Automatic updates on, it will run in the background and sap bandwidth right out from under you. Some other programs may also be doing this. Spyware and viruses could also cause the problem.
The last thing I can think of is simply a problem of over-crowded servers. When I first started playing Guild Wars (over a year ago), I experienced the same problems in Ascalon City. It was simply a matter of too many people for the server to handle. With the release of Factions, I have noticed the same thing happen. Even though I am on a much better connection now. So, it could very well be an influx of people that is slowing up everyone.
I doubt everyone here is experienceing exactly the same problem for exactly the same reason. So, I recommend you try a few things:
1. Clean up your computer. Run Disk cleanup, Disk Deframanetor, maybe even Check Disk or Scan Disk, Update your antivirus and perform a scan (You can get AVG for free), and update then scan with Spybot or Adaware. This may not help at all, but it should help you out in the long run by making your computer more efficient. It's kind of like getting your car serviced.
2. Check for any other programs that are using bandwidth. This could be things like an instant messenging program, your email program, downloads, a media player, internet radio, p2p / fileshareing programs, a newsreader, auto-update software, etc. If you have anything like that open, close it. Teamspeak can slow things quite a bit also.
3. In GuildWars, try reducing the visual quality. That could speed things up on a slower system.
4. In GuildWars, try switching to a district with less people.
Well, I hope some of this helps. If the problem lies within your connection speed, or just overcrowded servers there's not really a whole lot you can do.

This is really annoying me. Is this sort of what you are experiencing? I have comcast so that might be it but i doubt it since i have never had this problem until about... 3 days ago
