Dragon's Lair R/W Build Help
Killmur
Well I am one away from Protector of Tyria with my R/W however I have a slight problem. I am well aware how tough Glint is to kill. I would like to stick with the Axe War build I have for my R/W but I think I may need to switch to Ranger Prime though. What I need is 2 good builds for war and ranger. Either way I know I will need to buy extra skills for ranger and war. Keep in mind if I go ranger or war it has to be usable through all 6 levels of Dragon's Lair.

I would prefer people stop looking at this thread and actually post some help here.

You'll need an interrupter for glint. Rangers are good at that though, savage shot+ distracting with some damage skills or apply poison. Mainly degen+interrupt glint to death will be the key.

It's important to interrupt Glint's desperation heal Crystal Hibernation, which gets used once Glint is under half health. Take Poison Arrow and a poisonous bow if you can, combo it with Kindle arrows for extra damage. Just make sure you have Savage Shot in slot 1 and get ready to shoot! It's pretty easy with a good team.

i'd strongly reccomend disrupting blow and disrupting chop since you said you want to stay axe-based. but in all honesty, you shouldn't just force yourself to be a certain kind of ranger. rangers are (imo) the most versatile class there is. a problem many rangers have is the concept of the considering barrage a 'fix-all' skill and use it as a tack-on when its not necessary. Simarily, you seem to enjoy your axe when not necessary. you have to be careful about the kind of builds you're using and you should know about what's needed before you make your skillbar. glint calls for interuption, yes i've named two interupts for you. you could even bring in the shove (elite) if you have it for 3 interupts, but even then, disrupting chop takes 6 adrenaline which is a disadvantage compared to a bow-interupt like savage shot, or disrupting shot. shove is great, but you'd have to use it after disrupting chop because you lose all adrenaline. disrupting blow is good, except it has a 10 second recharge, which is still longer than savage shot. Yes, disrupting blow has the same recharge as distracting shot, but distracting shot is still better because it disables the skill for an additional 20 seconds. therefore, i'd strongly reccommend using bow interupts. heres a quick pure ranger build for you,
Expertise: 13 (10+3+1)
Wilderness Survival: 10 (9+1)
Marksmanship: 13 (12+1)
(Estimated attributes, I don't think these are accurate but they may be)
Punishing Shot {Elite} (Marksmanship)
Read the Wind (Marksmanship)
Savage Shot (Marksmanship)
Distracting Shot (Expertise)
Troll Unguent (Wilderness Survival)
Serpent's Quickness (Wilderness Survival)
Whirling Defense (Expertise)
Resurrection Signet
obviously this is a pure interrupt build, as i always have fun interrupting. just use read the wind and serpent's quickness before a fight and have fun interrupting. you can either actually try to interrupt or you can spam interrupts up until glint as with serpent's quickness and 3 interrupts you'll have one ready the majority of the time. when you get to glint you probably shouldn't spam them and if you choose to spam them, at least save one for crystal hibernation. you may just be surprised what good interrupting can do for a group. if your really confident in your skills and feel like recieving praise for them, just move your mouse over where your enemy's activity bar (or whatever its called where you see what skills they are using) while holding ctrl. then just click the skill she uses and then press the hotkey for your interrupt to show off your contributions to the group...but if you doubt your skills at interrupting just do it silently as you'll likely tick off some people if you call them out but still miss. have fun and goodluck, i trust you'll take my advice since you seem pretty desperate for a build and i just spent the time to help you

Nivryx I might try your build. I have always relied on using axe with my R/W and never ran into a problem with either the groups or the enemies. Not once have I been torn a new one by anyone in the groups I have been in cause I was going melee. However with Glint this is the only time I will have to no doubt switch to bow.
Slightly offtopic I do have a interesting story though. After I got stuck in a rock at the beginning of the final mission I left the group and went back to town. The entire group came back for me BUT the group leader would not let me in cause I was "tanking". What a jerk. My Guild Leader left group and we started one of our own. Anyways I better get my last Bonus so I can get my title for my R/W.

This is what I brought as a ranger and beat Glint on my first try (with 2 friends and henchies):
Apply Poison
Dist shot
Savage shot
Melandru's Arrows (bleeding when apply poison wears off)
Whirling Defense ( for the levels to get there)
Throw Dirt
Troll Unguent
Rebirth (or a rez sig)

Well I have decided to use Nivryx's build. I like it so far. I am atm looking for the guy that has Punishing Shot at Snake Dance. I am gonna sub 2 skills in Nivryx's build though. I am going to replace Read the Wind and Serpent's Quickness with Apply Poison and Penetrating Attack. I do have a good question about secondary bow type though. I plan on using a Ebon Jade Longbow as my primary means of attack. I need to know though if I should use a shortbow or a hornbow when facing Glint. I have heard the rumors and hearsay that hornbows have a built in 10% armor penetrating attack. Should I go with a hornbow if I am going to use Penetrating Attack or should I stick to a shortbow?
Nivryx
recurve bows are generally the best for interrupting.
Killmur
I may have no choice but to stick with a longbow and shortbow setup. I can't find any good pre-modded recurves. I also can't afford to but a recurve and mod it. The following Greens would be nice but they are way out of my price range. They both have nice stats but I can't find the Nundak for sale at GWG Auction and the Rotwing is way too expensive for me.
Rotwing Recurve Bow:
Piercing damage: 15-28 (req. 9 Marksmanship)
Lengthens poison duration by 33%
Health +30
Energy +5
Nundak's Recurve Bow:
Piercing damage: 15-28 (req. 9 Marksmanship)
Damage +15% (while Health is above 50%)
Lengthens Poison Duration on foes by 33%
Health +30

go to port sledge in the southern shiverpeaks. buy some intricate grawl necklaces or farm them outside of it and then turn them into the collector right outside of there. its an ascalon bow, but if i rememer correctly its recurve.
>edit<
incase you don't know, ascalon bows can be any type of bow and through testing its been found that certain collectors give different types of ascalon bows, and im pretty sure the one by port sledge has been tested to be a recurve.

I have been trying all day but I keep getting into both crappy and good groups. Turns out I suck at interupting Glint as a pure ranger. I may need to switch to a axe interupter.
Edit: The problem is Glint tosses out Haze so fast that it renders me useless. I never get the chance to interupt it when she first uses it.
Edit: NVM... I KICKED HER ASS!!!

Haha I pwned Glint on my first try with this build...
Hunter's Shot
Dual Shot
Punishing Shot {E}
Savage Shot
Troll Ungeunt
Kindle Arrows
Favorable Winds
Energy Tap
Basically towards the end when everyone's half dead or dead(3-4 of us standing with less than 50% health), I gave up on the spirits and preps and just did full time interruption. Her spells are easy to interrupt but deadly if executed.
