Ladies and gentlemen,I am now announcing the Circle Of Nine Ranger Free For All Tournament. Ironicly,it won't be free...lol.

For an entrance fee of 2k, you all will be entered in a Free for All fight to the Death(Opening round being a full on Ranger Only Guild Battle!),elimination coming upon reaching -60% DP(Death Penalty for those who are new).Or the equivalent of 4 deaths during the opening round of play.

Upon completion of the opening round,Whom ever is left standing will advance to the next round. Trapping and snaring. 4 man teams will be created from the winners, which will be decided by the roll of a hundred sided die.

In this round, the whole team must be defeated in order for the opponents to advance.

In the event that a 4 man trap team cannot be assembled, then round 3 will then be implemented.

Round 3 will be 1 on 1 combat.Anything goes. However, the use of NPCs in the guildhalls is not permitted in this round.

This round of play will be decided by roll of a 20 sided die, highest roll being top seed.If in the case of an odd number of participants by this time, the top seed gets a pass to the second round of 1 on 1 competition.

Upon reaching the last 4 participants in the tournament, the prizes will go as follows.

4th Place: 4k prize purse

3rd Place: 6k Prize purse

2nd Place: 10k Prize Purse

1st Place: Vampiric Amber Bow Of Enchanting (Req 9 Marksmanship +5 Energy,+19% longer to enchantments,5/-1 Vampirism)+ 15k Prize Purse

Also, these 4 winners will be top ranked in the 4 on 4 Tournament to be held at the end of August. They can bring 3 friends of their chosing to form their team for that tournament. All Guild teams will be welcomed.

The Ranger Free For All will start at 6 P.M. EST on August 12, 2006. PM me at Aim Deathbane,Sirot Uth Malika,or Darkpower Alchemist to join the tournament listing.

Any particular limitations to builds that can/can't be used in rounds?

I'm not going to hinder an individual's imagination. I want people to play to win. If you are playing in a team, think like I want my team to win.

If you are playing alone, think like you want to win.

Builds that are inventive are always spectacular to see in use. I encourage players to use the most effective builds they can come up with.

The beauty of Anet's setup for PvP is that cheating isn't really possible during PvP situations. No steroid fueled idiots are on the field. No superfast juicers are looking normal in the tournament next to the hard working normal guy.

It's just skill versus skill. The best will win.

What I was referring to by "build limitations" was can we make sure that there are no touch rangers? It wouldn't be nearly as fun if everyone had to build with the consideration that there might be a toucher out there to kill.

touchers are so easy to kill its not even funny.

If you can't deal with them, then you joining this tournament is basically you donating 2k gold to the cause, which isn't a bad thing btw.

quick question however...

how is the first round, or the free for all thing going to work?

You can only have 2 opposing sides, and therefore it cna't be FFA...

next, what is the goal of round 2?

Ok,let me further explain round 1.

In the "Free For All round" it will be a guild battle style matchup. The opposing teams will be decided by a die roll on a 100 sided die. Top rolls will be leader of each team.Following rolls will decide who is on what team. I.E. If you roll a 96 and I roll a 86,then the next guy rolls a 90,the first and the 3rd guys would lead opposing squads. The 2nd guy, however, would be the 2nd guy on the team of the highest roller, unless someone rolls a higher number.

The numbers would alternate to decide who is on which team. Its all luck of the roll. Whoever knows each other wouldnt matter.

Now onto builds. Touch Rangers are still rangers. However, rangers in general, are best in team situations. Touch Rangers are no different. I would like to have inventive people join the tournament, but to limit the player's build choices wouldn't show that the best person could win.I have beat touchers in 1 on 1 situations, its the team of touchers that are very deadly.

That being the case,I gave the guild battle style round the full extent of 4 deaths per person before being eliminated. No one knows who they will be paired with in their teams,so how do you develop a winning strategy? It will be the skills of the players involved that will set the pace of battle.

Round 2...

Round 2 is the basis of every ranger build ever created.Snaring your opponent is what we,as rangers,do best. Trapper teams are formidable against any other type of 4 man build. That being the case,I thought it would be nice to test the rangers in the tournament in the fine art of snaring and trapping as an event.

Touchers don't snare? Sure they do! It is just they are like a wolf pack. They chase down their prey, then triangulate for the kill.

Trappers do the same thing, but they just trap until they can't trap anymore. You are bound to hit the traps at some point, and then the trappers come down on their prey in a similar fashion as the Touch group would.

A spike team may pin an opponent, impair his movement, then proceed to decimate him with pure force. Arrows at double the speed, poison tipped, and bleeding can bring any player down.

Just remember that the whole team must fall to declare a victor. The first two rounds are based on the ranger's strength. Teamwork. Stalking,trapping,snaring-all for teamwork situations. Pulling is snaring, setting the trap so your team can close the door on their prey. This is what Rangers do.This is what Rangers do best. This is what we get paid the big bucks for.

This is how we earn our place on teams. We are the guys that lure the enemy to their deaths. However,I encourage the use of your secondary to give your Ranger as much of an advantage as possible.
