Being an archer in real life, I know this is done by longbow-archers to increase their rate of fire. You 'spike' arrows into the ground in front of you in a semi-circle to increase you rate of fire. As a skill it would look like this.

Spike Arrows
Energy- 10
Prep time- 5 seconds
Recharge time- 30 seconds
Atribute- Marksmanship

Spike (5...15) arrows into the ground in front of you, increasing your rate of fire by (10...25)%. Works only when a longbow is equipt. Spike Arrows ends when you use another preparation.

It would sorta work like a mini-barrage. Or not. Maybe it would just look cool.

wait, I want to know more. Do you just stab a bunch of arrows into the ground and then you pick them up one by one? If its based on RL, then it should be implemented, im just a little confused as to what it actually does^^.

You should decrease the activation time to 2-3 secs as well. To match the other preparations.

It could also be like Protector's defense. Where it ends if you move, but if it is like that, then you should decrease recharge time and activation time

It should be a stance:

Bowman's Stance:
For the next 8-15 seconds, you attack 25% faster. This stance ends if you move or are knockdown.

Well, English longbow archers would prepare their barrage by sticking their arrows into the ground in front of them. They would fire, bend down and pick up the arrow and straighten up, then loose in one smooth motion. (By the way; an arrow is loosed, not fired ;-). Over and over, like one of those sillyu Drinking Bird toys. A group of archers could loose arrows at a staggering rate, about 50 a minute. Let's just say the other end of the barrage was a Very Bad Place To Be.

I couldn't have put it any better...

I do think it's more realistic as a preparation, because you take time putting your arrows in the ground. However, for game balance issues, it would probably be a stance (all IAS are stances and all damage additions are preparations).

One problem with that is the description... should be changed to "your bow refires 25% faster" or something like that, to avoid warriors abusing it.

Spiked Arrows: 10, 3, 24
Preperation. Set 3....12 arrows into the ground; The next 3.....12 arrows you fire, fire 33% faster. This preperation ends if you move.

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Read_the_Wind This would perform better, as you can see. I think it would work better as a marksmanship stance rather than a prep. although I guess there's endless ways this sort of skill could be designed...

It would have to be a stance. Otherwise you'd get Favorable Winds, Tigers Fury, (Preparation version of this) in a ranger spike. Fast firing spike without the need to use punishing shot for that all powerful second shot.
