Are the GW.exe, GW.dat and the GW.tmp the only files required to play the game?

Kinda. This kinda helps when you buy a new comp or reinstall Windows.
GW.exe is the client with the netcode etc. This looks in GW.dat which contains all the data (all compressed) for the game(s) and pulls out what it needs at the time into GW.tmp (decompressed) to load into memory.
Soooo, you only really need the GW.exe and GW.dat to play (not forgetting you account, that is)
If you buy a new comp or reinstall Windows, you can copy the GW.dat to an external Hard Disk or DVD (if it doesn't get too big if and when GW 4 or 5 gets out), do what you need, copy GW.dat back to the folder you wanna install too and download the client from the website and install that. Time and broadband usage saved
