Not sure has this been mentioned before, but anyways, the title speaks for itself. Too many quotes not only hurts eyes, but also makes the reader often confused.
To be short in my thread, i think that a limit of 5 quotes per thread, would do. If not per thread, then why not, per some time.
Tell me what you think.
Limit of quotes in a thread

Well....then people that post later in the thread can't use quotes because the earlier posters 'used them all'.
Even if this were implemented, I think a new thing would be thought up to quote something, like;

People would just think up a new system to quote without using the official one.

People would probably just do 5 quotes, then double post say 3 more. This would help a bit, but then there would be more double posters.

What there is to be confused about, there'd be ten times more confused people if they didn't use quote-tags. "Was that reply aimed at me?", "Was that reply aimed at my post #5, #12 or #18 in this thread?"

You're exactly right, too many quotes, just for the sake of having them there, is distracting. If the person doing the quoting only adds something inane like "rofl" or "I agree" or something to that nature, then what you've got is a reportable offense of spam. This is fair game for deletion. However, I don't think it's the best idea to limit people's quoting if they're sufficient in a relevant response to that quote.
As always, there are exceptions. Quoting huge dissertations can probably be replaced with just one quote and several ellipses, and therefore is partially spam. You can help us by reporting these posts so that we can act on them appropriately.
