Pets are simply intended as a ranger "enhancement," to make this well rounded class a bit more viable. You always have the option of "not" having a pet.

And this thread, like every other of its kind, always consists of some noob not being able to figure out how to utilize some tactic or strategy in the game, therefore it SUCKS.

As has been mentioned earlier, its not the pet that sucks...
I play in groups and in a guild where the rangers use pets all the time.
Yes, they have their limitations, and yes sometimes pathing gets hosed, (try using the "deadly" sidestep key morons...jeez!) but overall they add a significant enhancement to the class.

The failure to realize this does not in any way mean pets suck, should be redone, have a gazillion HP added, etc. but rather demonstrates an overall shortcoming in understanding and properly using pets in the game.

Well, i dunno, considering the amount of "fix the beastmasters" , "fix the pets" , "new pet suggestion" threads compared to "fix illusion", "improve soul reaping", "fire magic needs an update" threads there surely is a correlation. So either a significant amount of players are "noobs" or beastmastery simply is lacking. I usually see the same 2-3 people posting in the threads how extremely outragiously powerful beastmastery is if you use it right, yet i hardly see threads in the lines of "guide to be an effective beastmaster" or "doing amazing damage as a beastmaster" or "my succussfull PvE beastmaster build" etc. Maybe my search button is failing me or this is a well kept secret. Maybe those "all you noobs, beastmastery is awesome" people can start a thread outlining the awesomeness of their beastmastery builds?

PS there is one beastmaster build thread trying to point out the usefulness of beastmastery but even that person had a dedicated "pet improvement suggestions" thread on the side :P
