Loading times and stuttering are horrible

My cpu specs:
Pentium 4 - Geforce mx 4 - 256 ram - 2,40 ghz
First i want to say the loading times are horrible..., just like the stuttering (or how do you call that?). Some weeks ago, when i joined an arena battle, i joined when my whole team just died. Pretty neat huh.. I defragmented my two hdd's and scanned for spyware/virusses. Lots of spyware removed, defragmented every day.. Loading times were OK in the arena battles. But everywhere else, they just keep getting worse and worser.

Can I solve (or atleast slow it down) this to use my guildwars CD-rom? (the textures load also very slow...)
- Sorry for my bad english btw

RAM first video card second your internet possibly 3rd

if you are using WIN XP you need a minimum of 512 to run the game smoothly (i think the minimum specs say 512 for XP) because XP is a ram hog

unfortunately GW is a ram hog as well

video card

the mx version is a speeded up GF 2 without the pixel and vertex shaders of the direct x 8/9 version

at the log in screen where you have game options click auto select for the graphics and see if that helps

lower the resolution to 800x600 if you havent fone it yet

turn off shadows

do not have any AA/AFILTERING turned on

check your connection

looks good

ram and video card are still possible as i have never had a problem but my cpu is a bit better and the video card that i finally upgraded to makes a slight difference even though it is a much better card

the gf4mx meets the minimum specs but you have to turn down the settings

it looks like the amount of ram is the bottleneck

if it is older single data rate (sdr) instead of the newer double data rate ram (ddr) that would double the problem

got to go as cat wants something

Try having 192 RAM with Win XP and then you can bitch. :/

(I'm thinking it's RAM. :P)

Agreed. Get that machine to 512MB minimum, 1GB preferred. You'll see a world of improvement.

Well, upgrading to new hardware is almost impossible and pointless:
1. i don't got the money
2. this cpu is shit anyway (almost 6 years old)
Cuz if i'm getting new ram, i might as well just buy a new computer instead... (also need new hdd's, videocard, a new monitor cuz my screen is shaking (!!!) and all the other stuff...)

or i might just leave Guild Wars and get World of Warcraft... (friends told me you don't need a really good pc for that, and there aint no loading times..)

*edit*
_____

Will it solve something if i used my CD's next time?

Loading times in World of Warcraft are horribly long, and it doesn't play smooth AT ALL.

It'll be far worse than Guild Wars, trust me, not to mention World of Warcraft is often called "World of Blockcraft" for its far from perfect graphics...

Enough said.

A friend of mine just upgraded to 768MB RAM from 256MB, whole world of difference. Of course, I'm not sure what the difference will be like for you, as he uses a GeforceFX 5200 and not a Geforce4 MX440 spawn of evil.
