now before i start this i would like to say that i do fall into this catergory and any1 else like me will probably feel the same. Also i dont have a guild for various reasons mainly beacuse i pve most of the time and i dont feel it nessery to have one

I have also just got into pvp so if some of my facts are wrong plz say so.
i have noticed that if I go to the tombs at abput 7pm on a weekday i find its pretty much crowed(english district1). I have also found that if i do find a balanced team one without leavers(which is hard) there more often or not crap (and this is because of so many casual players)

However if I go to the international districts at the same time there are lots of well balanced groups but they all want ppl with rank 4+ which for a casual playre to get that much fame is near impossible(i have even seen ppl askin for rank 6 healing monks before).

This is my reason why this game doesnt accomadate for european players. Im not sure what can be done about this but it seems there are really only 2 nations in this game. But i will still play cause i really like the game

The fact is though, that many casual players are not and will not be competetive. They do not have the time to revise and perfect strategies with their team and hone in their skills that the competetive players do. It may be advertised as a game that proves victory via skill, not hours played, but skills is honed by practice and practice takes time.

I have this problem as well

I rarely play in the tombs (most likely falling out in the first round, with the 6 teams), and as a result have something like 15 fame. Great. I PvP a lot with my guild in the team arenas, and I see myself as vaguely competant at PvPing - I've had ideas in the past that have got us further in the tomb; the problem is, even though we have a lot of people in our guild, they're too casual, and rarely want to PvP, so getting a group of 8 that are willing to PvP is hard!

Darned casual players. Then again, I am one myself.

This was probably the most useless post I've ever made, but hey

we need a 'casual but serious PvP'ers' guild...if anyone knows of one, i'd be interested...

echoing some of the comments here, i like to PvP when i'm on but don't really want to be kept to a schedule (or be forced to adopt flavour of the month builds, it kinda defies the point of the game)...

Yes thats skill at playing.
How many sports champions win major titles without previously ever having participated in that sport.

Please dont insinuate that 'yet again' the developers lied. If you can show me one competitive activity where experiance doesnt give an edge, I will be shocked.

You cant log on and be naturally skilled at backfiring monks, naturally skilled at switching to the correct target, or naturally skilled at operating your skills and your character, and I find your insinuations and allusions highly offensive.

The Romans had to practice their techniques of warfare before they could even secure Rome, let alone the known world.

Unfortunately, time invested is always going to help, not because of some unattainable goal, but simply because you become familiar with the game. When this released, I would play 4-6 hours a day, and soon had beaten the game with 3 PvE characters, so I could unlock every skill (30 or so to go, huzzah!), and have pvped extensively, but right now, I consider myself a casual gamer. I'll sign on whenever I have free time, and see if we're gvging/tombsing/someone needs help in PvE, and do that, but if none of those are happening, I'd just as soon log off and go out and do something and check back later. Then again, if those are happening, particularly PvP, I'm still intense, still have every skill memorized, still know everyone in the guild and their strengths and weaknesses, so in that regard it's not time played. Essentially, once you get over the 'hump' of having beaten the game a few times, and played pvp enough to know every map, every strat, in tombs and gvg, you can be an intense player with casual playing times. As with any other online game though, it's not possible to put in 30-60 minutes a day from square one and expect to succeed.

Perhaps what is needed is arena's based on rank. Sort of like the ascalon arena that only allows level 10 or lower (I think that was it). Except there should be an arena that is only allows top rank, another that allows any in the top 5 another that allows ranked lower than 5 only and yet another that is for people who have no hope at all of even placing on the ladder And that's where you can meet me

Amen, Brother...

I feel like the same here. I am far from being a casual player, but since I do PvE about 90% of my playing time, I am like a casual PvP player.

It's perfectly clear that people like me can't compete against teams who do PvP for like 6-10 hours a day. Heck, I don't even WANT to compete with them. But I have to admit it still sucks not be able to find a reasonably good team of likeminded players to enter Tombs for fun. I am a healing monk with several hundred hours worth of gaming experience - but since I never made it far into Tombs my rank is... oh well, I don't have a rank. I got a couple of hundred Balthazar points from playing (and sometimes winning!) in the arena, but that's it in terms of "reputation".

In addition, being in EU zone sucks even more, because most players here seems to be non competive for various reasons. At least EU never seems to get favor much, this again causing me not even being able to enjoy the PvE aspect of the game to its fullest. I had ONE chance to go Underworld so far... enough said...

So, what could be done about that:

a) Leagues

Make a second version of the HoH with lesser rewards then the original ones (e.g. no sigils and less fame points). This would cause the really competitive PvP players not playing there, leaving it for casual PvP teams. There still would be a prize for the winners, so there would be a reason to go there even for PvE oriented gamers (maybe a rare item for every one in the winning team). Deal out a certain amount of fame points, too - so even people with no reputation could slowly build it up there.
This would lead to having two "HoH Leagues", one for the more competitive players and one for the casual players.

b) Make arenas more interesting

Arenas are nice. I enjoy them a lot and the crowd there seems to be like me - which means I can WIN there every now and then. The downside of the arena is that there is no reward except the Balthazar points, which I don't need since I play PvP only with my RP characters. I have unlocked pretty much every item/skill/rune in the game, so those faction points have no meaning for me whatsoever. Suggestion: Deal out a little reward for the team who can win the arena 10 times in a row, like a "purple" item and some fame points and/or XP.

c) Unite European and US servers

Yes, I mean it! It's so obvious that EU can't compete with either US or Korea. I know MANY EU players who get increasingly dissatisfied (to put it very mildly) with the fact that they rarely or never can go UW or FoW even if they aren't interested in PvP at all. Also, it can be a pain to play with other players from the US when you are in EU. My guild is international (we have 60% EU and 40% US players), and why we NEVER can form a guild team to go UW or FoW is simply beyond me. Even forming normal guild parties can be a hassle because we only can meet in those otherwise totally deserted "International Districts" where we can't find any other players to fill empty party slots.

Agreed. I often win 10 or more games in a row, but the rewards are just crap

it is not necessary to have one for pve. but it helps out a lot, and is MUCH more fun. i know its kinda off topic, but i am just trying to let you experience more fun.
as a european player i have favour only twice maybe three times a week.
so when my guys and me go down to UW or Fissure, we usually make it count.
the biggest problem we got is: one ouf our healers has to live with a 24h disconnect that naturally comes, when we try to finish every UW quest.

so, if youre German spoken, check out my character.
we'd fight a bit, and if we get along, well maybe, its the beginning of some nice, future evildoing.

Why would this be a 2 class society? It's just about making different playgrounds for competitive and non competitive players, that's all.

For competitive players it's probably tiresome to beat their way through 10 inferior teams and hope to maybe get an adaquate opponent sometimes.

For non-competitve players it's probably frustrating to enter Tombs and be put against a Top-10 guild, too. Who likes their butts getting beaten up 10 times in a row without having the slightest chance to win? All that will be caused by that is that non-perfect PvP players will quickly lose interest in PvP.

In sports, leagues are a perfectly accepted means to put roughly equally strong teams together in a game. You don't make Manchester United play FC Lonelyvillage, too, right?

Hit the nail on the head I don't HoH anymore because the furthest I have ever gotten was the 2nd team battle.... and died there Most of the time I don't make it past the 1st round (with Guild or w/o) >_< A "Casual" gamer battle place would be nice, and it would be cool knowing your probabity of winning is slim to none :P PLUS this would serve as a great "stepping stone" for casual gamers who might end off being more hardcore

I know what you mean.
there are many like us: we are in casual guilds. and we like our guilds. however, if we want to pvp, we have a hard time.

i have been pondering about this, and since leaving a guild of friends is hard, a (small) interguild community of casual players that love pvp is maybe a solution.

players that have no problem rolling a pvp char to folllow a strat. the positive side: no one has to leave his guild. the negative: communications will need coordination. this is not impossible. the friendlist could for instance be used for this. and offcourse a forum where the teams can be made ahead for playing.

i wonder if you think i'm crazy, or if you think it might work. fact is, i rather play with the same pool of people then pug's all the time. if you play with the same pool, people tend to behave better, and give feedback. thus increasing the general skill level.

Let me know if anyone is willing to try this idea. i'm willing to give it a shot, and slowly build on it.
