Right now I have about 200 plant fibres sitting in my inventory and I thought about turning them into Linen and selling it to the material trader. However, it'd be good to know can I actually make some profit this way because I have to pay 200g per each Linen to the artisan. I'm relatively poor atm and I don't feel like paying 2k+ gold for nothing.

Thanks in advance.

Well, if you turn the fibers into linen, be prepared to wait, as the trader changes his cost all the time. I would suggest waiting until the trader gives you enough money to make a profit.

Or you could always just wait for the best price and sell the fibers, which is less risky.

I would suggest start collecting wood then craft Parchment out of it. It's much more efficient. It still involves waiting for the right time to sell it to the trader.

For crafting each Roll of Parchment you need 5 Wood Pieces and 20 gold.

If you have 100 Wood Planks you can get 20 Rolls of Parchment for 400 Gold.
(200 Wood = 40 Rolls of Parchment for 800 Gold)

The price of Parchment fluctuates a lot, so try to wait until you can sell it for at least 800 gold (per 10 pieces) to the Material trader. (Don't sell it to the Rare material trader since he usually gives you less for it in my opinion).

Oh and don't buy the wood, try to collect it, because if you buy it you won't have any profit at all.

So lets say you had 40 Rolls of Parchment that you can sell for 800 gold.
That would give you 800x4=3200 gold.

So you spent 200 Wood Planks and 800 Gold and got 3200 gold which gives you 2400 gold of profit.

---------------------------------

That's the general idea behind it, and if you sell parchemnt for less then 800 you are probably better off just selling wood for 10 gold per piece.

good luck
