There aren't a large number of issues concerning Guild Wars account theft, but each one is a pain for the player, and we would like to make sure that everyone knows the simplest means of avoiding having your account stolen or your items stripped:
If you are asked for your password, for any reason, at any time, do not give it.
If someone offers you a guild membership, more character slots, uber items, entry into a special level, free pizza, even the Super Secret Heavenly Plate of the Orca™ Armour, do not give your password. If your sainted Great Aunt Tilly asks it, do not give your password. If you can claim a prize, date a super model, or acquire the rights to the entire beer output of Bavaria's finest brewery, do not give your password.
Now, there is another way that you may give your password without even realizing it, and that is to use a universal password, or a shared password, or an "I'm too lazy to remember more than one" type of password.
Do not use your Guild Wars password for any other purpose. Choose a unique password and use it only for game access.
And there is a third way, too, in which an account can be lost, and that is through sharing a game account. No matter whether it's your brother, your best friend, or even your sainted Great Aunt Tilly wink sharing accounts presents problems at a very high volume.
Do not share game accounts.
We really care about accounts being stolen, and hope that it never happens to anyone. If you take the advice in these three tips, the chances of your experiencing problems will be greatly reduced.
See you in Tyria! happy
