First off may I say I have never enjoyed an RPG charcter as much as I am enjoying my female (yes, I am a male playing a female character) level 20 Mesmer, who doesn't use her elementalist side (personally, I think she has some self esteem issues about her ability to nuke, that or she's a psycho manipulator.....).
I have a quick question about my Mesmer/Elementalist:
What sort of creatures are Mesmers suited to farming? Or am I stuck relying on my secondary profession?
The reason that I ask this is, as in normal play I like to focus only on the Mesmer skills and I don't want to be stuck with the elementalist skills when Guild mates need help with missions or I get a chance to do FoW/UW.
Also, of note (from my meagre experience):
1. Mesmers + Ettins = squishy mess
2. Mesmers + large groups of anything = even squishier mess
3. Mergoyles + Mesmer = minor loot for Mesmer (its what I have mainly been farming)
Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts I would appreciate it.

Mesmer are considered to work best in PvP. I don't think primary mesmers with only mesmer skills are good for farming.

I do OK with my Me/R anywhere. You ought to do ten times better toting those elem. skills. Just find a spot that is caster heavy and own them. Mergoyles are too much trouble as they are, after all, mesmers.

Mergoyles aren't a problem, they only cast Mind Wrack and Spirit Shackles. So as long as you are patient, don't attack with your staff/bow/etc and watch your energy, they can't do jack to you.
I am thinking that I will create a char who is naturally better at farming (may use my warrior/necro), rather than fiddle with this skill set. Just had an interest to see if it was possible to use a mesmer to do it.
