I've had my video card settings set to 4x antialiasing for quite some time, but I noticed a LOT of jaggies in Guild Wars. I tried using GW's options menu and set it to 4x and it looked much, much better.
So I guess my question is, why is the ATI Catalyst control center not setting GW's antialiasing like it does all my other games?

Turning on AA in the ATI control panel only forces it to apply AA to the backbuffer. Seeing as Guild Wars uses the glow effect and other post-process effects, it has to render to a target other than the backbuffer, hence control panel AA won't do didly squat. If you turn off post-process effects in the options, the control panel AA settings may work, but that's only a guess.

Am I hurting anything by leaving AA set to on on my videocard control panel then?

Nope your not hurting anything, other than a possible drop in frame rates, but if you have a decent card then it shouldn't be a problem
