Types of damage.

Not sure if this goes here. But are there any inherent weakness/powers of differnt types of damage? Say a Slashing Axe vs. a Peirceing Axe?
Than
anyone?
arnansnow
Some enemies may be resistant to different types of damage, and weak against others, I don't really know.

Doesn't piercing weapons/damage have higher armor penetration than say slashing?
Paladin_Adoni
Theres really only 3 types of damage that are uber over the others
chaos, shadow and holy damage
any weapon with these damage types are great for the simple fact that they IGNORE armor when calculating the amount of damage. which on bigger bosses means more damage, and also a more consistant amount of damage against varying foes.
as for the other damage types, arnansnow is right. some enemies are stronger/weaker against certain attack types.

A 'Piercing Axe' is just another axe (admitted, the naming could be confusing), so it does slashing damage = physical.
Different types of armour can offer more or less resistance against certain types of damage. E.g. Mesmer's Rogue set has +10 vs Physical, while Necromancer's Necrotic and Tormenter sets have reduced protection against Holy damage.
So, depending on who/what you are fighting certain types of damage may be more effective than others.
Weapons as such do not 'have' armour penetration, skills can add armour penetration to your attacks. E.g. Penetrating Attack (bow) or Penetrating Blow (axe).

Edit:But thanks for the replys.
Just curious cause I'm thinking of switching my Hammer Warrior back to Axes, I've found some max damage axes, but the pericing one threw me.
