Number of players
-Ez-
is there a command to show the number of players currently online ? as im also wondering of how many players guildwars really have
arnansnow
There is not a command like that. I don't believe Anet wants people to know that number, here is a question and answer from an interview with Anet.
Quote:
Gamecloud - Can you give us an estimate as to how many players on average are on Guild Wars servers at any one time? ArenaNet - NCsoft does not release concurrency numbers but we can tell you that the numbers have been outstanding since the day Guild Wars was released. We built a tremendous amount of capacity in our U.S., European, and Asian datacenters, and looking back we are certainly glad we did. |

i see, so are all these servers connected together ? ( meaning US,Euro and Asia players are can meet on the game )
sorry for the really newbish questions, but i just got the game via a 10hour free trial, and still waiting for the game box to arrive late July or first week April here in the philippines

What benefit is there for not sharing those numbers?

many people are LEMMINGS
if they see the numbers of a game go up they go to it because it is *popular*
if the numbers drop shortly for any reason they abandon it because it has become *UNPOPULAR*
not posting the figures prevents the lemming effect from triggering

Do we really want the fickle crowd anyway?

ic, well as further i am into the game ive discovred that leveling zones are always instanced for private leveling... it feels kinda lonely i was hoping for something like Ragarok Online , iROSE and MU Online where you see other people leveling..

As for knowing the figures of how many people are connected, I would like to know as well (out of curiosity).
I remember when I played Ragnarok Online, it was pretty interesting to know how many people were on.
There could also be some postive effects from knowing the amount of people connected because it may show the peak time of selling/buying runes to/from the traders. But eh, I'm just curious

im starting to feel the lonelyness of the game.... lol..
i gotten used to see people leveling on the same spot with me.. altho dungeon instancing is good, which helps reduce lag and other problems like KS and looting.
but still i was expecting the game to have a similar feel to rangarok/ROSE/Mu
currently using a trial account, im not yet sure if il go and purchase the full game as of now... i havent tried PvP mode yet..

Try PvP mode before making a decision; I think that's the main reason a lot of people play this game (not me though - I like equal amounts of both PvE and PvP ).
Also even though I don't like admitting this but Guild Wars (like any online game) is heavily dependent on how *popular* it is. I mean if hardly anyone played it anymore, supporting the servers to run the game would become infeasible and better used for whatever future online game A.Net is working on . Online games *are* temporary fads that last for a few years and die out.
