I came out into the desert and can't seem to pass the gorge. Do I need to use a teleporter or what?

ok, thought so on the teleporter, is there a secret decoder ring or something?? I couldn't see how to work it. yeah, sorry about the name and content thing, but i forgot the exact quest name.

To make the teleporter work, stand on the circle on the teleporter, and wait for the four things to flash, wait some more so they flash in a specific order. Then click them in the order they flashed.
