I"m a level 11 R/N and after pre-searing went into the city. I immediately got the defend the wall quest, but didn't do it figuring I would get a bit more experience before trying it.
Anyway, I wandered around a bit, (upgraded armor, etc) and then got the cities of ascalon quest where you have to find the 3 monuments. So I just went out and wandered around, and finally found the Kings Watch one. From there I again just wandered around eventually got to the Serenity Temple and then the Frontier Gate. I tried to do rescue the prisoners quest there and failed it, however prior to getting to the end of it did find the monument for sumia, and I did recieve a cinematic as well.
I did some forum searching and apparently the defend the wall quest is the first mission quest you should do. I'm just wondering if I have missed out on the storyline somewhat by not doing the mission quests in order. I personally like the PvE part of the game and like to take my time doing stuff but don't want to miss out on the story in the proper order.
Thx for any replies.
BTW; Where is the damn switch to open the gate for Prince Rurick???? AND, can I do this w/henchies? as it gets really tough by the end there.
Should I do mission quests in order?

If you don't do the missions in order, you may be confused by the plot. It is fairly difficult to mix up the missions after the first one (as they take you to the next one). The quests are completely optional (except primary quests, which help you get to the missions).

speaking about doing mission in order, i have been doing it out of order and it kind of confused me on the plot! but lately, im been doing the mission that is given to me rather than just picking up the easy one and do the harder mission later.

You can do them in any order you want, but beware, playing the North wall mission at level 20 is nothing more than a farming run. You will enjoy the plot a lot more and enjoy the challenge if you do the missions in order.
