Why are the selling prices for steel ingots so low?

whel i am a pretty decent Guildwarser and i thought of making some money by collecting steel ingots got 50 so far and i whas thinking of selling them i whent to the material trader and what did you think i got if i sold it FRIKING only 30gp if i whanted to buys 1 i would had to pay over the 300gp so i dont knw why but what the heck why are these selling prizes so low?

Once upon a time you could sell iron to the merchant for 165+ and steel for 2.5k+ for 10. Some of us are still waiting for it to bounce back.

Remember that a lot of prices were inflated by the bot farming and other stuff going on that has been stopped. So some of those prices probably won't hit those levels again.

Negative....I tried to sell some last night and the Merchant is dealing out a bunch more gold than the material trader. I was in Lion's Arch. Merch gave me about 400 gold for mine while the material trader was only offering 30

I've noticed that sometimes, you get a higher price at the rare material trader. It takes longer to sell them, but it's worth the extra money.
