they keep nerfing good farming areas but do nothing about the expensive costs of armor and stuff... how else are we suppose to make money?

I agree that the constant nerfing of farmable areas is very upsetting. Most people will not give up there locations in a forum though. If someone wants to share the wealth and Pm me there location as well. I'd be very greatful. Seeings how every location I find gets nerfed with in a week I am without a current spot.
Sir Skullcrasher
15k armors, good but expensive! Try to buy with 1k of gold, priceless
I do agree, a-net still kept the pricing for all the items (armors, runes, and materials) and if we can't farm or find a way to get golds, than people can't have the best setup for their characters.

People don't understand when they say "how are we going to make money when they nerf everything?" If they do not nerf anything then everybody would have a ton of money and money would be worthless. People would buy 10 iron for 1k gold because it's so easy to get 1k gold. In the long run it's all the same. Those people with a million gold did not just get it all really quickly from one spot (maybe they did in the early stages of the game before the nerfs). They either botted it, brought gold with real money, or spent a VERY long time making that money.

Can someone explain to me what "farming" and "nerfing" is? There's so much lingo on the boards I can't understand what anyone is referring to, lol. Or if someone can point me to a thread that explains what some of the terms are, that would be great. Thanks!!

farming is doing the same thing over and over for the purpose of gaining loot, whether it be farming mobs or chests.
nerfing is making something less effective so farming will be less worth while, particularly nerfing loot drops or making enemies harder to kill.

I LOVE this game to bits and play it whenever I get the chance and im not going to stop just because I cant get that 15k armour but im just saying that it would be great to have it and be able to get the money to be able to afford it.

Well Im not telling you the best place to farm, but heres a good place that I think is 2nd to best.
West of Augury Rock, goto the telepad straight north, should be the 2nd one, go thru it, then goto the river, theres like 5 wreckages along the way, not ANY monsters, but you have to go onto the desert for 2 of them, just use run skill to make them flee, and about at the end of it, at the last wreckage, if your VERY VERY good, theres a sand worm, if you can kill him, sand worms usually drop 35% chance GOLD item. Also if you cant kill him and need a break, run to the sand elemental boss, and then run away, and there should be fight between sand elemental boss with 2 others vs sand worm, of course sand worm wins, but worm has like 80% hp left. So get all the wreckages, you should have about 500 gold, and it takes about 4 mins for me.
So for an hour you should have probably 7500 gold. Which isnt bad, but if you skill sandworm you might get 8000 gold in hour.

I've been through the betas and went on to play afterwards and one thing I was doing was finding runes and selling them to raise some gold. They then brought in the rune traders and bam, no more gold...it isn't worth it for me to sell a rune for the 25 gold to a trader, or even the 90 gold to a player alot of times. And with Superior Vigor runes at 7K+, forget about it (not to mention nerfing the hill giants where I stood the best chance of getting one of these runes).
I did manage to pickup some Major runes for less than the Minor runes were selling for at a trader (odd side effect of supply and demand).
I think that they should leave a few challenging areas where people can go out alone (in peril) or in groups to make some money. I'm not saying that they should completely blow their economy system but from start to finish as a casual player I've only earned 25K gold total...playing the same char since April.

im sorry but i disagree with some of you people.. you say that farming shouldnt be so nerfed but if it werent lets face it the games currency would be effected greatly... if you could still milk those giants for 50k in an hour gold would be on much less of a demand and who knows? maybe in a bit the currency would change because gold is too easy to farm for. either that would happen or you would need a lot more gold to buy your items you are searching for, so those 15k armors you are lookin for now would boost up to 150k armors :P
lets just all pray that this game doesnt turn into terrible currencies like it did in diablo 2 (effing ist runes/hr's/sojs!)

It's just dumb how a lot of aspects in this game revolve around 'looking' good.
Think about it. I can get a plain old max damage long sword for a fraction of the price of a fellblade. Any difference at all in gameplay? No. Got a collector's shield with max defense, +45 health and -2 damage while in stance and I haven't seen one Eternal Shield that could match that. People will use crappy items just to look good, it's just dumb. And if you get one of these items that looks good with the godly mods... well, you'll be one happy camper.
Isis Snowflame
dumb I think its great being able to look all badass....I like being able to customize my characters. I mean one of my biggest beef with FF11 is that your low lvl armor looks identical to your elite armors in a lot of cases. If im willing to put in the time to get cool looking stuff or dyes then so be it.
The Sensei
Yo yo yo . . . farming is all just for fun to me the drops are just a bonus! I can go out and take down a group of 10+ mobs that are lvl 20+, thats just fun! SO when i get like 10k + per hour of doing it and some Rare items those are just the icing on my cake. By the way the BEST place to farm at is just outside of . . .any city that a bunch of mobs spawn at, that way if you die you port back in, drop your DP and go back out to farm, thats if you insist on farming. Or you could always just fork out a couple of bucks and take yourself down to FoW or UW (Fissure has been having much better drops recently). When you do find your very own farming spot you DON'T tell the whole GW world where it is you keep it secret except for a few good friends! Well that's my two cents on the farming topic and the only important thing to do while playing Gw is to HAVE FUN ! ! ! ! !

hey guys im buyin the game r there any other things like farming?
HunterRose
Just my two cents for N00bs farmers like me:
1) Hunt mobs that have a stackable drop ie. scales, husks, etc.they are usually priced at 3g which adds up and only takes up 1 inventory slot
2) Trader those crafting materials, you'll fetch a much better price for them
3) Pick an area thats easily accessable to cut down time on bank runs
4) Be patient, as in life there are few "get rich quick" schemes that truely pay off
5) Take time to learn the economy, so you'll know if your getting a good price buying or selling
