Anyone suggest cheap voice chat software for use with Guild Wars?
Bragg Madaxe
Hey, I've already bought 2 copies of Guild Wars so that my wife and I can play, but our computers are far enough apart, that we have to yell to coordinate plans. I know that NC offers TeamSpeak, but I have no interest in buying a 3rd copy (though, yes, I'd love to have the Art of Guild Wars that comes with the special edition), so....
Is there in Windows a free or very cheap way to voice chat in the background while playing guild wars? We have 2 headsets already, just need to know about what software is available.
(By the way, this would just be for the 2 of us, not for talking with people around the world).
Thanks.

Teamspeak is free if you aren't running the server. I think Ventrilo is the same or very cheap as well.

If u looking for a system for just the 2 of you, go with Skype. Its easy to setup all u do is add the persons name ,hit dial and u are ready to talk. Its completely free unless u want to start using it as a fone where u can pay for credit to fone anyone in world . www.skype.com

You really shouldn't have any trouble running it over your home network and it isn't difficult to set up. Just read the instructions!

Ventrilo free 8 people version is really good.
I use it between me, my wife, and 3 other friends.
Hosting it is consumes almos no resources, and its voice quality its pretty good. Client is light also.
Skype is great, but the client is a bit more demanding on resources. So that just depends on ur computers hardware.

I'd also go with Skype, at the very least you get introduced to the wonders of VOIP :P
Skype-2-Skype is free, Skype-Out [Skype-2-Phone] and Skype-In [Phone-2-Skype] is not, but hey, nothing like being able to answer your phone on your computer :P
Basically the software is free, and i think the conference limit is 4 [excluding you]. So wanting to talk to more than that simultanisouly then i'm not sure how well Skype will live up.

It may be late, but if you're not happy with those or you can't get them to work, there's always the tried and true:

Just wanted to let everyone know that Skype did the trick-crystal clear and worked flawlessly for over 5 hours. Thanks again for the suggestions!

- Team Speak
- Ventrilo
- Skype
- IRC if your up to it
found that those are nice
ventrilo is a bummer for me because i can't get my mic to work through an audigy 2 card so i plug into the stupid built in one and i can't seem to get it to work
the others work wonders, and teamspeak is easy to use only downside is if u go to multiple servers i don't think u can save the IP for the old one so i end up writing them down usualy.
oh yeah got this off the ventrilo website
Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Syria or any other country to which the United States has embargoed goods; or any organization or company on the United States Commerce Department's "Denied Parties List."
means u can't share it with those poor poor communist and politicaly corrupt countries
