Backfire - one hit wonder?

Does Backfire last for the full 10 second duration? As far as my experience of being a monk and receiving backfire's blunt, I've thought once it's cast through, it's over. Some in my guild argue this point, saying that every cast for the full 10 seconds hits you, and that the reason it goes away is they're quick to remove it.

i think it goes away after the person it is cast on, casts a spell. i could be wrong

Backfire ends when it times out, is removed or if the targeted foe casts a spell.

I thought it stayed for the whole duration...meaning every time they casted they'd be pummeled with damage.

Backfire ends only if it is removed or the time runs out.
You can cast as often as you want with backfire on you - it will stay the whole time.
Otherwise a backfire on a monk would be pointless. A monk can easily heal himself for 150 points. So he just casts a heal on himself, triggers the backfire and heals the damage right away. Now backfire is off. That would make backfire pointless.
But Backfire stays the whole time - in random arena you can easily kill some eles with backfire. Just watch out for stone daggers/flare spammers. It is so much fun

Backfire continues working for the full duration of the hex, meaning that until it ends or is removed, it will cause damage for every spell cast. If you cast Flare three times with Backfire on you, that's three times the pain.
If you're unsure about what a skill does, go out and test it. If you can't go out and test it, don't state your uncertain guess as a fact.

Here's the spell description:
Backfire - Hex Spell
For 10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell that foe takes 35-119 damage.
This would imply two things to me:
1) Spell lasts for 10 seconds, unless removed.
2) Damage is dependent on Domination magic skill level, not the damage from the spell being cast. Therefore, it more effective on short casting time spells being spammed instead of long casting time spells.
My two cents....

To reiterate what most have already stated, it lasts until you use a Remove Hex spell on it or the time runs out. I use it all the time, so I should know.
Vegas Kyz
It continues until I cast shatter delusions to remove it, inflict more pain, and cast another hex.
Mwahahaha.
I now realize that before playing mesmer in GW, I hadn't really been alive.
