If you look closely, you can see a few things. First is that I have Linen and Silk that aren't stacked. But look at thier values. The first silk; there are 6 of them and they are worth 90. The next silk; there are only 3, but they too are worth 90. Now the linen. The first linen; there's 4 of them and they're and worth 60. The second; there's only one and worth 20. So if you added three more linen to the last linen it would be worth 80, not 60. Same with the silk. If you added 3 more silk to the second silk, it would be worth 180 and not 90. This means they have different prices, although they're the same material. So if you do the math correctly, this is how much one of each material would cost.

First Silk: 15 gold per
Second Silk: 30 gold per
First Linen: 15 gold per
Second Linen: 20 gold per

I'm posting this because I wanted to know if anybody else has/had the same problem. Please share your thoughts on this.

I've had a similar problem with the stacking - usually occurs just after an update, and stuff starts stacking in another slot - but i'd never though of checking the prices of each stack?

By any chance are some of your materials identified?

Have you got a friend online who you can give the items too? It might be worth trading with them and see if they stack in their inventory, and what they cost if they do?

Judas Hawksriff is correct. This happens because when Arenanet adjusts the price of an item, they don't change the current one, but create a new item with the exact same properties but a different price and make all monsters/traders drop/trade that instead, in effect "replacing" the old item with the new one, but not destroying or altering the old one. Basically, they don't make retroactive changes to the items. This is really just a guess, but I think they do this because most of the updates have lowered the prices for the items, so you keep the older ones you've had and can sell them to the merchants for the old higher prices.
