Todays Modern "Noob"
trelloskilos
I'm usually happy to help out new arrivals (newbies, green players, whatever you want to call them...), however, it's disappointing when you see some turn very quickly into n00bs.
2 cases come to mind.
1. I was in Ascalon, and there was this guy begging for fur as his armour was the pre-sear. I thought "Give a man a fish...teach a man to fish" blah blah, so I told him that by collecting charr hides, he could convert them at the Ascalon collector into fur squares for every 4 hides very easily. He first told me his level was too low to hunt charr (He was lvl 7). I told him that lvl 7 was a good time to be trying to hunt charr for the experience boost as well as the hides. I also told him that buying charr hides for 50g a hide was a good way of making money too, as it is easy to make a profit. - All this help, and he changed his message to "Can anyone give me some charr hides please?"
2. I enjoy a good trap party. I've long since stopped bothering about ectos or smite runs, but I enjoy trapping the UW for fun and profit. A few of us bought on a new guy who seemed very keen to listen, and learn how to kit out his ranger, prepare and get the most out of his trap build. He proved to be an excellent student, and we managed to get very far through the UW with him. I saw him a week later, and decided to team up with him for the UW. What a difference! This young padwan had turned into the most arrogant snotty know-it-all that I've ever trapped with! He felt obliged to tell us all exactly what was coming next, when to lay QZ, when to pull, when to sneeze, what his EN was, etc. ad nauseam. - then proceeded to die constantly because he forgot my no.1 rule about smites. Don't shoot them when they've got Shield of Judgement and Reversal of Fortune.

Hi there. I saw this thread and had to respond. I'm playing GW as soon as my copy gets send. I hope to come across a few of you online as I could use some guidance. I've allready checked a couple of sites but yours was the most clear.
I am a newbee with GW but normally I play CounterStrike and I support teamplay on all games that I play.
See you out there.

LOL ROFLMAO, isn't that just about like a noob. Personally I don't believe in begging, since everything is easy to get if people will just get off their a$$ and go out there and do something besides whine that they don't have any money or anything. I earned every piece of gear I got playing the game. It was pretty easy too all it took was "time". Lazy ###*#^# bassturds that want everything on a silver platter.
I recall helping one guildie by going deep into Mineral Springs and getting him a real nice bow and the sob had to gual to ask for money after that and any materials I had so he could run to droknars and get the leet armor. Gawd, that pissed me off royally he joined the guild for one thing and one thing only to "leech". After that I no longer got guildies items but would occassionally help them get through missions and I would "never" run any of them to droknars. nosireesir I don't believe in that and I will never support that. They will never learn to play correctly bypassing the game content like that.

it is, you're just meeting the wrong people, or you're just seeing their bad side come out over a certain topic that happens to be their pet peeve...

i love newbs. they're so eager to learn to be a good player. |

Today's modern "n00b" is someone who plays a specific online game fewer than 15 hours a day and is therefore not as experienced as a 12-year-old on summer vacation. Today's "n00b" is generally classified as having an active social life, a job, perhaps a lover. This instigates jealousy or confusion from the "l33t g4m3r" (elite gamer) community, causing them to insult and shun the "n00b".
Don't be offended to get called a "n00b"

=P.
As far as target order I go by the build. If they are using a gimmick build the first thing you go for is the person that makes their build work. Take him out and you remove the ability for the other team to win. Then you have the very powerful FOTM builds. For smite builds i usually take out both e/mos at the same time, why? without them their damage output is severely reduced and allows the monks on my team to survive better, in addition it could take up to 30 seconds for an e/mo to get revived and get all his enchantments on him so he can start spamming smites again.
Target order should always go like this
Key players
Monks
Casters
Rangers
Warriors
If you identify a build that you know isnt spike or smite but has a lone mesmer or lone necro, you can pretty much bet that person will be casting some key spell to make their build work the way they want it to. If you remove this person from play first, again you can make it far easier on your own monks. No matter how good monks are, they cannot counter 5-6 people worth of damage forever.

or a n00b is someone who is a newb, however unlike the newb, does not admit to sucking and proceeds to suck his way through the game and becomes the king of suck, while thinking everyone else around him sucks

Just like with the older expression 'lamer', pretty much everyone who uses it, is one.
