Are Hammer Wariors only supposed to be W/e or can i still be one?
Ranger1357246
Hi, I was thinking of switching to a Hammer warior build with my War/Mo
Most ppl i asked said that W/e was the only "real" hammer build
can someone please check out my current build and give me some insight
P.S i noticed most ppl use STR and not tactics..Seems hard to replace healing signet
Currently i use Axe.
1.cyclone axe
2Healing Breeze
3.Healing signet
4.Disember
5.Cleave [E]
6.Flurry
7.Endure pain
8.Shield stance/restore life
9 healing
4 +1 minor= 5 strenght
11 + 1minor= 12 axe mastery
9 +1 rune +1 helm = 11 Tactics
2 points remaining ...... Need to complete 2nd 15 ATT. job quest

I'm running a hammer smiter wa/mo with some success in pvp. Still refining though. There's so many potential roles you can play that I'm surprised someone would call a specific build the "only" one for a purpose. I'll have to post my build after a bit more tweaking, but generally the role of this particular character is to act as a spellcaster/healer distracter so that the rest of the team can be free of area damage or so there's one less healer buffing up the enemies.
The whole issue of self healing is a dicey one and generally speaking you can expect that you will be the last person being targeted in an organized game. This means you can devote all of your skills and attributes toward the intended role (interrupter, anti-caster, etc). Unfortunately there's nothing stopping someone from putting a cap in your ass, leaving you with few options to defend yourself if they choose to target you first and find out you're an easy mark.
In a way that's the beauty of the game, that you cannot possibly cover for every contingency, forcing you to make compromises if you want to focus on a specific build type and do it well, vs. trying to have an answer to everything and leave yourself a mediocre role player.

I think that you can go with a hammer build for W/Mo. I mean now you aren't using anything that I can tell would be bad with hammers. I don't have it, but most people say Victory is Mine is a better warrior healing skill, and it is tactics as well. But then again, ViM needs you to deal conditions on the other guy to work.
You might want to consider switching out healing breeze for osiron of healing, the latter is a little more engery effecient and can't be stripped. Or at least replace healing signet with it.

Started yesterday with W/Mo smiter hammer in PvE first, then a little PvP. I use balthazars spirit for energy and adrenaline (very useful for hammer skills, cuz they need a lot).
Results: for PvE it had a nice combo with knock down (either by Shield of Judgement or hammer skill), follow up with the blow that causes a deep wound (when enemy on ground, also + dmg) and top it of with holy strike (dmg + additional dmg if enemy on the ground).
For PvP it had mixed results. I mainly do arenas in LA and the teams you fight in are mixed as well. So far no good results: I dont have the impression that I could kill faster. I used the shield of judgement mainly on one of our casters to help him/her staying alive while I was beating their casters. This is the flaw in this build, cuz if I take no hits, Balthazars spirit is no use...

ViM is impractical for hammer builds, and healing breeze is used for the pips of regen, allowing you counter degen hexes.
And why would you use knocklock warrior in pve, when you can use axes for the easy aoe? If you wanted aoe with hammers, you'd have to use crude swing (which sucks without earthshaker).

Hammer Monk would be just fine...
Don't know of any monk skills that benefit from knockdown but that's a synergy yet to be unlocked or whatnot...

Hammer War/Ele is only for the additional damage from Aftershock, really, which is nice, and the AoE is quite helpful when on the altar, but its not a dire necessity.
The core of the Hammer build can be pretty much retrofitted with any secondary. People are just fixated on that one combination, as usual.

if you dont need the aoe then holy strike>Aftershock, and you get judges insight as well

scourge healing isn't bad either. On a focused target, it would probably deal out more damage than aftershock.

Scourge healing does do more damage, if you target a monk and if that monk uses healing spells, which are becoming less common these days.

It just depends on what you want to do, in the damage department - w/e will overcome w/mo anyday.. and imo it's a lot more fun, it's what I play as my main currently.
If you're looking for a w/mo axe build go check out the other axe build questions in the recent posts, I replied to one of them there with a good build.
If you want to play a w/e I'd go with the following:
deva hammer
crush blow
mighty blow
heavy blow
Aftershock
Berserker stance
Sprint
Rez signet
Thats pretty much your staple w/e build. Start with bers stance for full adren then run through your skills 1-5. Doing skill chain 1-2-5 is easily possible but it's not worth the small amount of damage. I usually do 1-2, let them get up, then 3-4 which knocks them down for a second time, which is when you get in the aftershock. It rolls casters.

If this is PvP, you don't want Shield Stance, Healing Signet, or Healing Breeze. Always build a PvP Warrior around pure offense.
A Hammer W/Mo might work well with Holy Strike, instead of Aftershock, and Scourge Healing, to hinder your target from healing himself back up. Plus, it gives you access to Mend Ailment, which will prevent anyone from blinding you. You could also toss on Smite Hex, which really helps the Monks on your team.

War/Mo with hammers should be something like this:
Judge's Insight
Devastating Hammer
Mighty Blow
Heavy Blow
Crushing Blow
Irresistable Blow
Bull's Strike/Restore Life
Sprint
It works very well.
