Hall of Heros - renamed
Ashley Twig
I think the HoH should be renamed to something more appropriate.
Hall of Hooligans comes to mind.
Never ever in any other place then the HoH have I've been harrased, insulted and humiliated that much.
Nowhere else can you find more weirdos than in the HoH, who, if they die, don't even ask if someone is capable of rezing them. They just drop out and try again.
Maybe I've been teaming up with the wrong guys, but since none of my friends plays GW, who can I trust?
For somebody new to the HoH it's truely hard to maintain a team, because if your team looses, teammates don't want to discuss the reaasons why we failed. They just want a new time in which they don't fail.
"Fire and forget" comes to mind

Humiliation can only happen if you let the insults and harassments get to you. In any competitive environment tension/adrenaline levels are going to be higher, which amplifies both negative and positive aspects of the fight: people will be euphoric when winning, and majorly pissed off when losing. Not everyone deals gracefully with those emotions. Don't take those insults personally, just shrug and move on.
The competitive aspect also influences the faith people have in their groups: for PvE being in a 'decent' group is usually more than enough to finish whatever you're trying to accomplish, but in Tombs 'decent' doesn't cut it. If anything, start a group yourself and carefully select the members based on your good and bad experiences - randomness invites mediocrity.
I still don't see how 'hooligan' applies, unless you're satisfied with just any negative word there. Hall of Harassment maybe, but many will disagree.

I have had the same problem, I play the PvP for faction points and for some fun. You win some, you lose some.. however when I lose seems I also lose players, some have even dropped out before the match was even over. Been insulted several times in PvP in general. I honestly think that some people take the whole thing way too seriously, it almost feels like if you cannot guarentee them a win they don't want to play. I have a guild, however it is too small in numbers to be able to have just guild members as the team, especially in the HoH, by the way we are recruiting... Anywho, keep on playin, have some fun, if you ever see me in the PvP Team Arena you can always team up w/ us, you don't have to worry about losing any team mates...

Whenever I see 'HoH' on these forums I always think of "Head of Household" from the reality T.V. show Big Brother.

They have to "update" HoH anyways. Too mayn Players there, u lose overview fast. See only colors, try to kill some Monks( even with T and Space ).
porbl. is u runing behind a monky, and bang u being blocked by others players. I guess a 1 vs 1 ( each 8 ) should be fine. Otherwise im starting too hate HoH.

Sadly, PUGs in the HoH are a sorry part of GW. While it's possible to get a good PUG in PvE, it's nearly impossible to get a good one in the HoH.
If you didn't want to join a guild, you might get "friendly"...platonically, of course...with one that you can team up with when you have a hankering for PvP.

It's the childish guilds that really annoy me.
It was an 8v8 in the tombs. Our opponent consists of mainly air elementalists and they all wear the same cape. Swift was our defeat, but they had to make fun of us by surrounding our last survivor so that he couldn't move. Whenever he would cast a spell, the air elementalist would try to knock him down with Gale, and then the "All" channel flowed with "lol"s and "rofl"s... and other weird comments.

Ashley come play with us.
No need to join our guild or anything. We don't play all the time but we do pretty regularly. When we do we often need to grab an outsider or two. If you're looking to go to HoH just send a whisper.
We test stupid things out and mess around and nobody gets upset if we lose but we do try and improve and we take it seriously. We've only made it to the final show once, but it seems like we're improving a lot by the number of teams we're killing. We're not getting a guild hall until we win one so we've gotta take it a little seriously.
Anyway next time you're looking for a PuG send me a whisper. If I'm free I'd be glad to have you join us for some fun.
I turn off local and trade every time I go in. I'm not sure how much abuse the other teams are spreading, but that's the downside to giving someone online anonymity.

I have 3 characters so far and none of them is a PvP character, but having done all the mission, most of the bonuses and probably 99% of the quests leaves the HoH as the final challenge.
But you're right about the "befriending" thing.
I do have met 2 people who I trust already, but one of them hasn't come that far to have her PvE character in the HoH and the other one is hardly online.
I suppose I got to try harder then.

One person can't carry a team in the HoH. Don't blame yourself but, if you can, try to talk to the party before the match begins. If they have horrid names like "EsTeeEfYou" and talk using monikers like "dude" and use words like *shivers* "u" all the time, that might not be the group for you. Chances are they will be the types to leave and taunt.
If a group leader starts talking to you the minute you join, helping plan, trying to assess what kind of player your char is and all that, you have probably stumbled on a good group.
You might advertise that you're a < insert character type here> LFG for FUN.

Heartbreaking PUGs is just what you have to endure before you find good groups and good players. You aren't going into the Tombs and getting a gosu team on the first day... That's just how it is. Consider it a rite of passage.

Sort of related to the topic: are warriors even welcome on Tombs teams? I've sat in the tombs and annouced my intentions and character type for 20 minutes or more, without any response at all. I'd like to think my request sounds intelligent... I give classes and specialties, but no one seems interested. I've gotten nothing but compliments from my PvE groups, and I've been on teams with good winning streaks in both the random and team arenas. Is there just no call for warriors in the Tombs/HoH?

There're some PvP listings for players that wouldn't mind hooking up from the guru forums. I can't find the 2 I'd actually seen before, but here're 2 of them, and at least 2 more I know of out there somewhere.

I've never been to the HoH. I feel left out of the harrasment and idocy. I do need to get back into PvP though. :|
I'm not even sure how to get there. It's from the temple of ages right... or is it that place where you go meet Glint?

Awwww...
Toa is the temple of ages, the gateway to the Underworld and Fissure.
At Dragon's lair, you can zone into the temple of primeval kings, TPK, and fight your way into the Hall of Heros, or you can do the mission in Dragons lair to fight glint
Finally someone who's not afraid to ask Go you

Just a final post to thank all of the other posters for their warming support and positive replys.
When I started the thread I was ready for some "if you can't stand the heat..."-flames.
Yesterday I dared to visit the Tomb again. It took quite some time, but finally I found a group that didn't quit right after the first defeat. We discussed strategies and skills.
We never won, but hey, it's a start.
Thank you again for your moral support.
