Make /age viewable to all

IMO /age is better than /rank

/age shows how many hours you have played on 1 account and ALL your accounts.

Why do all of your posts have to do with childish ways of showing how much time you've put in playing this game?

In one, you want a halo for having more time in. In another pointless post, you want more skills/levels for your time. In another, you want more powerful weapons. And in this one, you want to show off how much time you have in at this game.

Just because i play alot i want something to show for it. its not affecting my stats so why cant i have it? does doing /age and showing it to everyone any different than doing /rank?

No. But it is unnecessary, and unneeded. We have something for the small of ego to flaunt over the newer players. Therefore this is irrelevant.

And if it were my game, you wouldn't have it, simply on the basis of your whining for it, and things like it, incessantly.

And for the millionth time, why do you feel you need something for being a player who spends more time than anyone else at something? More time, in this game, doesn't mean you're any better than another guy who plays less. There are games that give you more for spending more time. This, thankfully, isn't one of them.

Truthfully, you should go find a game that allows for time spent, and play that. Leave the game the rest of us normal people play alone.

No, I won't tell how much Ive played, because it's embarassing to admit to having spent so much time with the game. And I couldn't care less for having an aura for having spent so much time in the game. Or letting anyone see my hours. No thank you.

Age is nothing more then how long you play. The argument is age = experience, maturity, playing more then one job, etc. Which is not the case.

Example you have someone who only does pvp and decided to jump in to pve . The reverse can be true someone who has slowly grind from PvE and jumping in to PvP with may seem cool via age but in reality there new to pvp.

Personal Example, I've been playing the same character since the game came out (and started paying a new pve ranger) but now just starting to do PvP (Tomb Kings) and have a lot to learn (admit it) due to my inexperience with thinking players over stupid npc’s.

The lack of the ability to see groups skill sets, age, rank (less the rank emote), fame, armor, equipment prevents "elitism" in guild wars where people will exclude or only included players off stats.

You're absolutely right. I think it's childish to want to "earn" auras. If I wanted an aura, I would've bought the collectors edition. The only thing an "earned" aura does, is allow the tiny egoed person to show off in front of people.

Fact is, if it was implemented in the game, I wouldn't care, at all. But since we're talking about things that may (but probably won't) be implemented into a game that I play, I voice my opinion. Just as you have voiced yours. Over numerous threads.

It certainly doesn't make me weaker, and if I were the type of person to dance over someone like you, when you, and your "earned aura" were on the ground in HoH, I might consider it a challenge. Or if I could take your precious aura when I beat you down. That might be something cool. Because you could just spend your life earning another one, right?

As stated before, you're voicing your opinion, and I'm voicing mine. You seem to think that this issue would make the game better. I feel like developer's time could be better spent elsewhere.

The difference? I am looking at the "bigger picture"... You seem to be looking at what helps you show off the best, and not what would actually improve the game.

If you want people to listen to your idea's please don't jump on people but please provide the logical reasons why you want the change and counter balance other people's arguments.

This is why whenever I respond to one of your posts, I give you reason, just like my response to the stacking of the same rune type of different levels on the same armor. I distinctly remember you saying "why don't you people agree with me" in that thread.

Wow. First of all, the word "1337", if you can even call it a word, generally distinguishes a noob. Secondly, there is a difference between skill and hours played. I have skill, and I really don't care if anyone disagrees. Hours played has nothing to do with skill. Hours after picking the game up and playing through the world preview and several betas, I had the game down and was already an experienced and dedicated player. Time is nothing. The least amount of time is the true value here. It shouldn't take long to fully work a character, or even several, through the missions and quests.

Additionally, requesting skills and attribute points is unbalancing and to be blunt, retarded. There is no argument about it, so don't. Guild wars puts a level cap and other restrictions up for a reason, so the game remains balanced. I find this entire post an insult not only to the staff at arena.net, but to the gaming community as a whole. If you want an unbalanced, and time-over-skill game, then go to one of the many other treadmill mmorpg games. This game was made to be a fun and interactive game for new players, and experienced players alike. This is what you don't seem to realize.

What you don't seem to realize is that you paid 10 dollars more to have a "special aura" around you when you dance. How is that working harder? Did you work hard badgering your parents for the money?

I think people need to quit arguing with one another and just say what they have to say and then move on, if you think it's spam you're only adding to it by arguing with doesn't make any sense at all. Indigo if you wanted to say it was spam saying so would've been fine, but to go and label him as "a sad child with low self esteem issues" doesn't make you a damn bit better than him, it might make you worse.

Anyway, to view this from a non-biased standpoint, (which is obviously a new thing to a few of you who automatically saw the guys name and went at him), I don't really see a problem with this thread. It was in the right board for the most part, it WAS a suggestion in part, and this IS the suggestion board. If you don't like his suggestion that gives you no right to call it spam and definately no right to insult him or anyone else here because they view the "/age" differently than you.

Anyway, to actually not be an asshole, I don't think it should be implemented...but I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea. I mean hell for that matter RANK is just how much time you spend in the tombs, you don't necessarily have to have done wonderful in them or anything to have a rank. It's easier if you're good at it, yeah, but not necessary. Sort of like how it's not necessary for you to be great at the game to have a lot of hours. But it DOES show how much time you've spent on that character and then your TOTAL time which would give people an idea as to how much time you've spent in the game as a whole, and if that was in fact your only character or not.

Hell people get the 15k armor to "show off" when in fact it doesn't take any skill or intelligence to make money in this game, all it takes is a farming build you pick up off the net and you're set for as many sets of 15k armor that you want.

Anyway, I just don't think it should be implemented because it would just be text, and people would spam it just like any other chat me thinks.

However, if...since it's a "/" command, it could only show up in the emotes chat channel? I don't think that would be such a bad idea, and it wouldn't be bad for when some new guy comes and tells me to "stfu" because he's been playing for 2 weeks and I haven't. A /age would take care of that.

I also like the idea of being able to show how much XP you have.

Or perhaps some sort of emote for having cleared out/completed all the quests in the FoW or UW? That would be cool. PvP players get their "/rank" emote, why don't PvE people get something for clearing out the two toughest areas in the story mode? There's a completed task to be proud of in my opinion.

Honestly though you people, Indigo and others, just need to lay off a bit. IF you don't think it's a good idea you don't think it's a good idea but when you result to senseless namecalling and other bullshit I'm going to have to say you didn't make your "points" any more than he did. I mean shit if we can see when people "jump" or if we can see that "Lolona Breech is excited!" why the HELL wouldn't people be able to see our age? Did you ever consider that we already see enough pointless shit when it comes to emotes? And if /age and other info was in the emote channel, no harm no foul, just an option for people to share information with one another.
