Earliest I need to use capture signet
Wolfedude
I am now playing in the Thunderhead Keep area w/ my Monk/Elementalist. When is the earliest I should start loading my capture signet to capture any useful skills?

Ya desert on you should have cap sig on just incase for those cases when you run into a boss of ur proffessions. So you kinda missd the whole shabang.

Yeah, there's 1 elite for each class in the Crystal Desert and 1 in Dragon's Lair.

Its Magi.

LOL, yeah, you can use them in dessert. And elites are much better to cap then unlock using faction, unless all you do is PvP...
But before dessert, using your cap sigs is just a waste of money, b/c all those skills can be bought at a skill trainer somewhere.

Actually there are some skills worth capturing even back in Kryta and Maguuma, right when you get your first SoC from Magi Malaquire. Those are not elite skills, but they are not available as quest rewards or from skill trainers until much later in the game. By capturing them from a boss you get them much earlier.
For example, for MONKS:
Divine Intervention
This skill again isn't available until Copperhammer Mines (skill trainer).
If you want it earlier, you can get it from:
- Ramm the Benevolent (White Mantle / Bloodstone Fenn)
- Garr the Merciful (White Mantle / Aurora Glade)
- Corbin the Upright (White Mantle / Riverside Province)
- Selwin the Fervent (White Mantle / Sanctum Cay)
Convert Hexes
This skill again isn't available until Camp Rankor (skill trainer).
If you want it earlier, you can get it from the same White Mantle bosses as "Divine Intervention".
Draw Conditions
This skill again isn't available until Copperhammer Mines (skill trainer).
If you want it earlier, you can get it from:
- Dracul Cadava (Undead Human / Riverside Province)
- Farik Earthtuner (Undead Human / Sanctum Cay)
- Selwin the Feruent (White Mantle / Sanctum Cay)
Scourge Sacrifice
This skill again isn't available until Copperhammer Mines (skill trainer).
If you want it earlier, you can get it from:
- Tree of Life (Bloodstone Fenn)

At any time an SoC costs only HALF as much gold as buying a skill. So it is CHEAPER to capture a skill than buying it from a skill trainer.

i usually buy like 3-4 signets to keep in stock so when we make it to town i swap out the skill i don't want to fill with another signet. It's very useful and i've got most of the elites that i wanted! there's just one more that i really want.

Also capping a skill gives you xp from Magi Malaquire's quest - if you are eager for lvl 20, it helps out a little there.
Last night I began ascension missions with my first character, a monk. I capped the elite "Word of Healing" on the Elona mission. MAN it felt good! (Usually I always forgot to equip the sig, so yay!)

If you capture or buy a skill instead of earning it in a quest, you'll have a hard time getting all the elites toward the end. Skill points get scarce, unless you like to grind.

Not all skills can be acquired through quests o.O
Celdor Nailo
once you use a signet of capture, do you keep the captured skill forever or does it disappear when you reach a town?
Zenny
You keep the skill and unlocks it for PvP characters.
