Trader NPCs broken, trade spam at all time high

Trader "quotes" no longer reflect the actual value of items. The rare material trader will sell a single Steel Ingot for over 290g, but will only "quote" them at their INHERENT value of 30g. This has led to MASSIVE amounts of trade spamming, as now nobody can get even close to their trade values from the trader NPCs. Another example: Red Dye now "quotes" at 1g AT THE DYE TRADER. This is just plain ridiculous, and will only create more spamming in Capital Cities.

Then why are you posting it here? e-mail support or /bug it in game! Make a.net aware so they can quickly roll out a bug fix.

i used their support crud, and did /bug. i actually /bug'd this for the last week or so, since that's about how long i've been having this problem. but with the most recent update it seems to be vastly more widespread, and has spread to other traders as well (runes, dyes, everything but the merchant).

I'm afraid I don't quite get the point. Do you mean that the trader claims to sell the item (eg steel ingot) at 30g, but you actually pay 290 if you buy it?

no.........

every in-game item has an inherent value (except for quest items etc). but this value is different from the actual trading value. or at least it was before this latest patch.

for example: all dyes have an inherent value of 1g. that's what you would get if you were to sell it to the merchant. but you sell it to the dye trader, and you get a percentage of what that dye is actually worth. so if the dye trader is selling red dye for 450g, you can sell red dye to the dye trader for something like 350g. but as of the most recent update, the dye trader will only pay 1g for all dye. same with runes. a superior vigor rune would sell at the rune trader for 25g.

That's not what he's talking about =_=. Not at all. Nobody said anything about merchants.

Of course that's what he's talking about, thats the OP!

As for the problem, just re-email ANet. If they don't fix it any time soon, then chances are they did it on purpose--my guess would be to "boost" the player-to-player sales rate, but who can know?

well, ANet needs to keep in mind that boosting player-to-player sales, also boosts the already incredible amount of spam taking place in trade channels. now if they were to actually implement an auction system, all this would be a moot point anyways... so here's to hoping that they do.

Report that craziness! Nobody will ever sell to a trader if they can't determine the sale price... And I far prefer to sell to traders over selling via trade channel.

Lets be honest, the state of the game nowadays I reckon most people walk around with the trade channel off. Next to be switched off is local - because of the trade spamming. So basically we are left with guild chat and private messaging, hardly a healthy community.

We are not able to respond to individual gameplay questions. We do, however, offer an extensive online manual ([url

This document changes periodically and grows to better serve your needs. We would also like to suggest that you ask questions of a gameplay nature on one of our many excellent fansite forums, listed on this link: http://www.guildwars.com/community/default.html. The fans playing Guild Wars are usually more than happy to answer questions and provide other players with gameplay suggestions and advice, and many of them are active in one or more of the forums listed. And, during gameplay, you may find that the fastest means to an answer is to ask the question in the game itself.

We look forward to providing a great future resource for Guild Wars in our online manual, and we thank you for your interest in the game.

Heh, whether people will like to admit it or not:

1)Tech support always sucks and
2)If some goes wrong with the game (ie-lag, crashing) it is ALWAYS YOUR fault, not A-Net's, because their systems are perfect.

I'm not saying Anet is the only company guilty of this. Every company is.

I agree completely with Suze though...I have turned all trade spam off.

yes, i just checked it this morning, and it's definitely true!

a piece of fur is now selling for 380gp from the trader but he would only buy it for 40gp. I too have just filed a bug report thru the GW site. I think everyone who has a problem with this should file a bug report with them so that they will realize that this is a significant problem.
