what do dyes look like on platemail? Do I have to add silver to make it look shiny?

This may not be applicable or even true, but I heard some armors turn gold if you use dye remover on them. The example I was told was some W armor or R, not tattoos, but it's a cheap try. Might just work on metallic armors though, but I haven't seen it.

I thought that ... but its not the case ... as a red dye will dye red but a yellow dye dyes greenish . :/ maby its just because its skin and skin isnt as shiny as armour..

btw the dye combo in my pic earlier is Silver+Yellow+Yellow combo. (still green)

I never really like the idea of gold armor, but happend upon this mix and it seems to look pretty good on my warrior's armor:
The Golden Belletrix. The mix is cheap enough, about 500-550.
*edit*
Ok, the monk tattoos look ok, but the mesmer garb looks a bit drab.

Suggestions?

what do you mean? you use dye remover on yellow? or you use it on the armor and then use yellow?

Dye remover seems to represent the default colour of your armour. So yellow + dye remover on for instance Fanatic's Tunic (which is red by default) gives orange. Yellow + dye remover on monk tattoos (which are blue by default) will probably give some greenish colour.

Suggesting dye remover as part of a generic colour therefore won't work, any dye mixed with it looks different depending on the default colour.

I tried just dye remover on my platemail armor and it turned it gold. I was like, "Sweet!" Now I got gold armor for the price of 5 dye removers. It's looks very nice too. How awesome is that?

Just use dye remover on your new warrior armor, (before you have added any dye) & it will default to Gold. Looks awsome.

LOL, now we are gona have all GW warriors in Gold Armor.

Wow, I'm both saddened and pleased at the same time.
Sorry it didn't turn gold, maybe a more yellow based dye for elems?
I'm Glad you didn't blow $600 (400 with the drop in green dye) on my dye mix and get pissed at me :P

This is my Warrior with Drok's Plate and a Crimson Carapace Shield. Originally, the armor had a blue color. I dyed it and the shield all red and was very disappointed in the results…it looked more like a maroon of sorts. I then used dye remover on the shield and all armor pieces. Below is the result, a fairly nice gold color.

I then used several gold dye combinations with the following results:
On the Boots I used the (Silver + Yellow) + (Yellow + Orange) combination.
On the Leggings I used the (Orange + Silver) + (Silver + Yellow) combination.
On the Gauntlets I used the (Yellow + Purple) + (Yellow + Silver) combination…remember using opposite colors supposedly yields a brownish color.
The Shield and Cuirass I left alone for comparison.
On the Helm I used the Orange + Silver combination only.
All of these can be seen below.

This time I used dye remover to return everything to normal and then used several other gold dye combinations with the following results:
On the Boots I used the Purple + Green + Yellow combination.
On the Leggings I used the Orange + Yellow + Green combination.
On the Gauntlets I used the (Orange + Yellow) + (Yellow + Blue) combination.
On the Cuirass I used the Green + Purple + Orange combination.
The Shield and Helm I left alone for comparison.
The results can be seen below.

I’m still not very happy with any of these combinations. In my opinion, the dye remover yielded the closest (and cheapest) gold color. I have seen some brilliant gold armor in game. If anyone has a better combination and pics for gold plate, please post.
