This is my first character to Ascend and I've had fun with it. Only played PvE so far, and recently changed from Mo/N to Mo/E to get glyphs. With my staff, I start with 45 energy and 531 health. I have one more +15 attr quest to do so I can pump up one attr to 12 in the future. Here are the attributes (counting runes, etc.):
Divine Favor 11
Protection Prayers 11
Smiting 11
Skill Bar:
divine boon
signet of devotion
reversal of fortune
mend ailment
signet of judgement (elite)
glyph of lesser energy
balthazars aura
rebirth
With divine boon, all the monk spells heal for around 90 even though I have no healing spells. Reversal is awesome against spike damage and mend cures conditions. All divine/protection spells cost either 5 or 0 and have recharge times around 2 sec so can be spammed. This is critical since boon steals an energy pip (-1 regen).
When I get a break from healing, I toss out the signet of judgement for a quick knockdown and 50+ points of holy damage, then glyph+balth aura for huge damage (26x10sec=260 that ignore armor). I love balth aura because I can cast it on myself if the enemys are beating on me, or I can cast it on a front line tanker if I am safe in the back. The net cost of balth aura with the glyph is only 15.
I was thinking about changing the elite to glyph of energy since the recharge time exactly matches the recharge on balth aura so I could spam it roughly every 15 seconds (not counting aftercast) for a net cost of 10 energy. Then I could add either another smite spell/signet or another protection spell.
I am interested in ways to improve this build and also tweak ideas for PvP.

Personally, I'd go with Offering of Blood/Zealot's Fire, instead of Glyph of Lesser Energy/Balthazar's Aura. Offering of Blood gives you about the same energy, more often, and it works well on cheap spells. I don't think that Divine Boon should be used unless you have a way of regaining energy. Here's what I'm thinking of:
Divine Boon
Signet of Devotion
Reversal of Fortune
Mend Ailment
Smite Hex/Protective Spirit
Offering of Blood
Zealot's Fire
Rebirth
It would do just a little less damage, but you're not wasting two slots (Glyph and BA) to use a single skill (BA).

I like the Offering of Blood idea for energy, but I haven't had good luck with Zealot's Fire. The reason is it does fire damage instead of holy damage so well armored enemies end up taking about half of the full damage (at my Smite level, the fire damage is around 36, but they usually end up taking 17-18). Zealot's Fire does the same flexibility as BA in that you can cast on yourself or a tanker. You are right about using up two slots for BA, but it's too expensive to use without a glyph. Thanks for the feedback.
