When I play Guild Wars, I have no problem running around but when i go through a portal heres what happens. IT will connect and load quickly and say "0 files remaining" but nothing happens for like 3 minutes. What is wrong?

I have the same problem. I've always assumed it was my RAM. It's pretty low.

Do you have enough memory? Post your system specs first.

Haha. I'm "pretty" sure it's my RAM.

I only have 192.

Some tips:

Let people know. Just tell them..."Hey guys, it'll take me a second to Zone. I'll catch up if you need me to"

And I rarely have a problem. And hell, I play a Mesmer/Elementalist, so I know it's not them thinking I'm "useful enough to wait for."

I get a LOT of people gawking and making comments, but there's nothing I can do right now. I'll enjoy the game any way I can and I have to put up with it. It sucks, but it's better than nothing.

Finding a group of people who know your situation helps a lot. My Guild is great about that, however, it's unfortunate because the long zoning times renders PVP practically useless. You Load up and your team is dead. I feel horrible being unable to contribute in that aspect.

I'm trucking away okay. Farming is nearly impossible due to the inane amount of time between zones, but otherwise, I manage to have a lot of fun with the game. If you learn to just be a little patient...or hell, go do something in between loading times..(I know I have) it might ease the load.

Also make sure you turn off all the xtraneous programs you can. That helps, even if it's only a little.

I had this problem because there was a setting wrong in my router's firewall. Setting it back fixed it.

It seem that for every update, it will force you to auto reload all the files per towns that you visited. I also agree that the load time is kind of long, it used to take 1 max to load for towns or outposts, but since the recent changes, it take 2 or 3 minutes to load!

Why dont you buy a 512 Mb module?

I'm pretty sure you must have SDRAM memory, because that amount was abandoned in DDR times.

You can get it for a VERY reasonable price, in a website here in Spain you can gent a OEM 512Mb SDRAM module for as low as 34 euros, dunno hows the change but surely less than 50$

I know it can be a decent amount of money for just playing a game, but hey, that memory also will help you in your whole pc duties

Im sure this will solve your loading problem. I installed a new graphic card that by error disconnected the 512mb module in my work's pc, lefting me with 128mb, and loading times in GW was horrendous. Plugged the 512 back et voilĂ , fast as always.
