Pre-searing was a training grounds to get you introduced to hte game and then you did the mission to get u to post searing and old ascalon. Is there another mission that takes you somewhere else? and if there is can you still play with ur friend even tho he didn't do it yet?
thank you

Sorta. Without giving anything away, there will be a new atmosphere and big city like Ascalon City, but you can still visit Ascalon City

All missions other than Pre-Searing to Old Ascalon are re-doable, you just don't get the 1000/2000 exp + skill pt for them the second time. That way you can party with friends/guildmates etc who may not have done a particular mission just yet.
If you talk to Sir Tydus (or whatever his name is) in Old Asc, he offers a quest/mission called The Northern Wall. Here starts the mission/storyline sequence in post-searing and leads to Ft Ranik's mission and so on. I'd suggest exploring a bit more around Ascalon and the surrounding areas before doing the Ft Ranik mission as there are other subquests that net you skills.
If your friend has not "crossed over" from Pre-Searing into Old Ascalon, you'd have to create a new character in order to join him there. Once he crosses over into Old Ascalon you can group together from there on out.

Going to Post-Searing is the only way out of 'Pre-searing'.
