How Anet fix the GW econ in easy 3 steps
demonblade
Step 1: Add rune and other traders. Comment: Great, as long as the sell back price is not 1/100 of the original value.
Step 2: Nerf farming spot. Comment: Good? So people don't have zillion gold on them. Also prevents the new players to get too much money to inflate the market.
Step 3: There isn't really a step 3, I was going to say gold sink, but since all new players now are poor and helpless, they need better armors than anything else.
Before the big nerf, people are running around yelling "WTS MAX DMG FIERY DRAGONSWORD!!!! WHISPER WITH OFFER!!!!" and there are people who are rich enough (like everyone?) to buy them cause a big inflation on the market.
After the big nerf, old people are running around yelling "WTS A GOOD SWORD!!!! WHISPER WITH OFFER!!!!" and silent maybe some old people who started a new character answer them. The supply went way down, and the demand went way up, and people now don't have money to pay for what they want. Nice way to fix the economy, make every new player poor.
There are three types of people in the game right now:
Type 1: rich old players who have too much money in the vault + characters.
Type 2: poor new players who can't find a good place to get money. Like myself, I started saving since the beginning of the game for my set of 1.5k (NOT 15K) platemail armor by using the pre-searing collector armor til I can fincally afford it, and now I am still using my powerful 11-16 butterfly sword with NO MOD because I can't find a better one and can't afford a better one.
Type 3: new players who got REALLY luck and got nice gold drops and sell them for... what other people can afford. Slightly better than type 2.
Type 4: (Bad Luck)^2 people. Closely related to type 2, a little bit worse, for those who can't even afford a better armor through farming + going through the game normally.
I would rather go back to the old inflated economy than this third-world country like. I got my first set of 15k platemail fairly easy with my first character before the nerf, I just went through the game without any farming at all, and I bought new set of armor whenever is available; now I have to go through the game and attempt to farm with my first character to get enough money for the pitiful 1.5k set. I would still say nerfing farming spots DOES NOT stop botting, they will just find another way to exploit the game, it will only hurt the new players.

well i agree that since i started drops have gone down, but i guess reducing farming spots is the only way to stop bots but sadly makes us real players pay the price and unenthusiastic to play the game... but like i always say, GW is just a child right now, we need time to let it grow and things may change... by the way it doesnt only hurt new players, i started just over week after the game came out and i only have like 34K and have never found an "OMG UBER LOLERS8S" item.. so i guess what im trying to say is you missed Type 4: Just plain bad luck... much like my day in d2 i fit in this catagory for this game aswell
but im sure with time Anet will do something... im sure they will.. wont thet?
edit: oh and by the way also for the money i dont have super armor either, my helm is 1.5K, but the rest is Lion's Arch 700gp... ya thats how sad it is, i would buy better armor but i really want to save up for a guild hall

I leave presearing with over 1k gold if I level to like 6.... You can get a max damage sword for like 500 gold....
What ARE you talking about.
It's not the games fault, you don't need flawless gear for PvE, you want it. For PvP hey they give it to you for free!
1.5k armor a whole set costs like 20k materials and all and thats if you buy the materials from the trader, you can get from people for less.
I had 19k when I got to droknars for simply playing the game and selling what I got. I didn't farm for drops nor did I find some 00b3r 1337 item.
I can make like 1k a run from gold/drops that I sell to merchants and I can do runs in like 5-10 minutes. 6k an hour? Thats not exactly nerfed.
Where do I farm? Or used to actually, gold is rather worthless, outside gates of kryta. A simple smiter can shred those silly mergoyles like they're nothing, they drop some decent stuff too.
Then if you grab that skales mission from the skill trainer in the Ascalon Settlement you'll have these 3 executioners spawn at the cave at the end, right next to a new zone. These badboys drop salvageable armor. Sure they've nerfed the runes into oblivion but when you're getting gold armors you'll occasionally get the superior worth a few thousand.
Well see ya.

I'm trying to be sarcastic here, so I will just fill in some possible responses that you will here from some... I dunno... let's just abbreviate this group as FBs.
If you offer to sell your item for 110% of what the merchant offers, you will sell it in notime! And you can then go on to play the game and get more gold for your time!
Actually I do agree in nerfing hot spots, except there is a universal decrease in drop rate. But anyhow...
If it is so easy to attain your maximum amount of gold, then there will be nothing else to do right? Besides you don't want people selling gold on... eBay! Sorry bud, we rather your characters live poor then to run the slightest chance that *gasp* people will sell ingame gold for real world gold!
Don't worry, Father Stalin and Mao Zedong watches out for you! You can get your FREE standard issue collector armors from our Tyria wide network of collectors! You don't need any gold, all items are provided for you!
Same with weapons! They all have max damamge and perfect mods, and are all FREE!
Big Brother loves you!
So what? Does the thought that other people got rich way easier than you rub with you in some way? Be humble! Everyone is equal! They may be wearing their FoW armor, and carrying their Firey swords with perfect mods, but they are no better than you. "Skill" matters here!
/sarcasm
I really wonder what's this whole skill rubbish. All I notice, skills matters NOTHING. If you have even 1 crap player in your party, there goes the collective effort.
Besides, how do you acquire skill? Through repetive game play.. and grind!
And please don't tell me PvP is not grind... what combos are there now?
Erm, spike eles and monk team.. or spirit rangers team.. or perhaps some other arcane combo.
Wow, I'm so fascinated. It takes A LOT MORE SKILL than "farming".. NOT
It is so funny to see you contradict yourself. So what if there are 3 executioners there? Near a zone? Are you *trying* to suggest to the OP to go to the zone, kill 2 executioners, rezone, and rinse and repeat?
I'm not implying that you do this. Nono, I'm not even saying it is wrong! Hell, it might even be standard practice to make some gold!

but ya, i don't blame Anet for anything, infact im happy they are shutting down botters,i just wish there was some other way, its just a little painful to never find anything, and in time im sure things will be back to what they use to be
i am going to try PvP, but im just trying out each character to see which one i want to play as

1. People don't know what to do: charge! i can tank better than warrior because i am a healing monk!
2. People didn't unlock all the skills: really no comment.
At first getting all skills is the most noticable grind in the game, now exploring is another. This is just my comment: who the heck would bring other players to just explore the map? henchmen will do it, but Aleisa hates me for some reason; soloing through groups and groups of newly added red dots with enchantment removal + real ub3r dmg? think not, especially if you don't know where you are going.

did they really nerf colecters items? i spend a half an hour to find s mossy mandable, but i didnt think it was due to nerfing...
I loved running around aimlessly when i first go this game, it kept me entratained for hours and id would jump for joy when i found a town, heh i remeber in pre-searing i found fort ranik and i thought to myself "Waoh a town all the way over here?, i must be like the only person who has ever found it!".. hah of couse i ended up in a almost empty channal so i actualy thought it was true, oh good memorys...
anyways back on track, on the positive out look everytime i do find a good item i get really excited, i found a whicked 1/1 vampire hammer today.. well it was the third best find.. i nearly wet myself.. sadly my warrior uses swords though

Actually the situation with armor isn't THAT bad, for instance it is pretty easy to get the chestpiece in all stages.
In the crystal desert it takes a few carapaces and you have a new chest armor!
Same with helmets, you can trade 5 forgotten seals for a helm, it is a rather crap helmet though (for forgotten seals).
Minotaur horns and losaru manes should get you leggings and gloves.. but personally I find shoes to be a total pain. It takes 5 burrower jawbones. Or 7 stone summit crests if you are willing to endure the lower AL on your feet.. that collector is somewhere between copperhammer and ironmines of moldaine.

I still hate it when people want to nerf farming.
Farming doesn't ruin economies. Inflation will always happen. They will happen when an economy isn't prepared, such as the economy in GW. There's no counter-measure. All nerfing farming does is hurt the casual player.

To be honest it does seem quite unreasonable that 1 level 20 creature is supposed to take on 6-10 level 24 creatures, and still remain standing...

You mention you used to farm outside the gates of kryta, I used to farm there all the time as well, it was my main source of income when I needed money.
I went there yesterday, and you remember how everything used to drop something? Not so much anymore, in groups of 20-30 mobs I got between 3-9 drops. Try farming there again and tell me how your luck is. Also another good farming spot, the beetletun quest where you stop those hordes of undead from reaching the city?
None of them drop a single item.
Yeah, we've been nerfed.

It is possible for your char to accumulate 14K by Droknar, provided you wear collector's along the way.
Heck, I even wear a full collector set on my W/Mo now, and while I can afford Droknar armor for it now, with gold so hard to come by I just prefer to hold on to it.
It is somewhat frustrating though..

I made it in about 10 miniutes about 3 hours ago. I have tested it in 3 spots with heavy disenchants 10 times in each place and I died twice.

I have 22K in my vault 10K on my char in the desert and 3K on my char at aurora.
I have done all quests and the first 5 missions + sanctum cay with the char in the desert. Additionally i explored the whole map, except that dead-end zone outside of ventari with the first one
the second one only does quests and all missions no exploring and no "useless" killing
Maybe I Do something wrong but i have enough money I would think WITHOUT farming. Both have up-to-date armor and decent items.
I sell al my stuff to the merchant or keep them for my friends, found a few maxdamage weapons along teh way, a few gold, a greater amoutn of purple and lots of blue items. When travelling with my friends they usually find the gold and i find more blue in relation but i don fuss about it

22k in vault and 10k on char means absolutely nothing. Sure, you can wear the collector's set, it is not too hard to get to the collectors in the south shiverpeak, it is just hard to get the items to trade with the collector. When you settle in for 15k set and superior vigor and absorb, good luck with the money you have.
Personally I don't find the enchantment removal annoying since the only enchantment spell I have is Armor of Earth, which I rarely use now.
They are yet to nerf the charr near piken square, they still all drop stuff (gold or items, but all worthless, 4-5 runs for a purple), and I barely get 400-500 golds for one run, and it is roughly 20-25 minutes per run.
Throughout my first character I only found 3 gold items, and my second character didn't find a single one. I personally don't find farming fun as the other people claimed, it is just my desperate move to get the money I need; but I do enjoy seeing 10-14 mobs died at once.
My point is while they nerf farming to against bots, they nerf all the other mobs too, so the regular players are having a hard time getting money. They either need to fix the stupid sell-out rate (my 1.5k platemail chest armor with superior absorb only worth 350 gold on the mercant's eye), or make the nerfed mobs drop gold instead of items. The poverty in GW now it is outrageous.

lmao am i reading correctly? did the OP actually say he canot afford any mods or anything for his sword?
rediculous. just from items you get dropped along the way you can make enough gold from salvaging to buy most things.
my money says this guy was a farmer and now his way to try to be LEET and UBER is gone.
wawawawa cry me a river.
PS get a max damage collectors item. they cost you ZERO GOLD and are better than 99% of the so called "cool" weapons
have a nice day, thread should be closed

If you have no money.....go get a max dmg cool looking clean sword and customize. Or use collectors. There is no economy which can fuel everyone's greed.

Making everyone poor only pushes them to IGE who have already stockpiled alot of gold. My first toon went though the game with little trouble getting armor and stuff my toon I'm working on now is having to farm to afford his armor
Farming = grinding, and i thought no one wanted this game to have a grind. Oh wait those people just made a level 20 pvp toon and never bothered with us lowly pve people.
