I would have chosen a Warrior/Monk but I deemed it too common so I tried to go with a ranger build, and I saw this build on the website called the Furious Bowman. It's here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...man-id1160.php
I like the idea of speeding up attacks and powering up to shoot as many targets as possible but do you guys think this build would be effective? And why wouldn't you just use a AoE attack?(I'm not experienced in Guild Wars AoE attacks.)
Thanks in advance.

that build, as it stands, is probably not the best of builds anymore. A lot has changed since it was made. Rituals are Spirits now, not global so Favorable Winds is an AoE spell now and a bit less desirable. Tiger's Fury's duration has changed so yu need more Beast Mastery to run it constantly. Conjures only work with weapons that do that type of elemental damage so you need to trade your Zealous weapon, which really makes things go infinite in terms of recharge here, for a Shocking one. For that matter +speed weapons, which are suggested there, are no longer in the game. The underlying idea of loading up on attack skills and then buffing those attack skills through damage adds and Increased Attack Speed is solid, and one I used to good effect this weekend (although I paired it with a pet becauce I wanted to try out pets and went more for disruption most of the time. Barrage, Distracting Shot, Debilitating Shot, Charm Animal, and Disrupting Lunge were my core, and I fiddled around with things to deal damage or disruption depending on my mood. With a Zealous bow and some runes it would have worked very nicely, I think, but I was a bit pinched on AP so I couldn't really get it to work as well as I wanted.) though, just not the particulars. Others, I know used variations on that idea to really good effect.
Why Barrage is there is simple, it's cheap, it's spammable, it's AoE, and it makes all your damage adds or your Zealous string better. It *is* an AoE nuke for a properly buffed Ranger and one you can slam folks with again and again (There's few things prettier than getting off a Barrage on a clump of enemies, let me tell you). Same with Dual Shot, to a lesser degree. But they also work well on a single target because you can't always catch people in the AoE.

So I should just use Barrage and Dual Shot and take out those old useless ones?
I just gave up and looked for some more builds..the Illusionary Warrior and the Mesmer Pirate King build caught my eye. Are they outdated?
The Pirate King is http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...ild-id1151.php
there. But I think that you would know, cuz they are your builds!
Also, For the Pirate King Build, you said you got Hunter's Shot temporarily in Ascalon but kept it. What does that mean?
