After you're done with taking out the bad ghost, and they start to attack, hang in the center, above the altar. Once the first few waves have hit, go wait by the ramp that leads you down to the courtyard. Only go down if you need to fight mobs attacking the Hero. If you wait in that spot, the seige wurms will not fire at all, and last time I didi it, we waited for 7 minutes without any attacks and it was done.

Why are you attacking the worms? There is absolutely no need to. The wurms target is the group they cannot see the ghost (ie make sure your dont range too far away from the altar or they will see you and start dropping wurm spit on you), so after you clean all the mobs up (make sure you call targets for the henches, and mark priority targets like mages first etc) pull the henches to the ramp you came in on and /dance or /excited or something, the wurms cannot see you there and the ghost will sit on the altar and complete the ritual.
If you are going for the bonus, you should probably worry about that after you finish the mission and do it with a full group of lvl 20 PC's.

I agree with the comments made above.
The routine our group usually goes through is, once we get to the fortress/temple, nuke or range attack the bows on either side of the bridge, then once the drawbridge is down, rush up and assume the position that the bows previously occupied. Its easily defended, and the enchanted come to you in small group of 2-3.
After they are wiped out, and the enemy ghost is down, as others have mentioned, stay in the area around the altar. Dont bother with the wurms, and if you dont leave that area, they generally wont attack you. Once you do however, even when you return to the middle altar area, they seem to "see" you, and will continually lob their siege attack your way.
I wouldn't worry about the bonus, unless you are playing through for fun and dont care about ultimate mission success. I don't think I've done the bonus on any of my 4 ascended characters - just defend against the 3-5 waves of attacks, and you'll find it's likely the easiest of the 3 ascension missions...
best of luck.

Thanks to all, tried it and it worked. We did have time to spare.

for future readers of this forum also dont forget the slow totam, which can be obtained by going right, before you enter the castle. you can then set that down, in one of the onrushing bridges to cast illusion of haste of the attackers so you may pick them off as they approach

best of luck. Your advice really helps. Thank you. I succeeded in 1st try and with henchies. The siege attacks of the wurms really hurt(hit sometimes) but Lina and Aleisa saved the day.
