Im thinking of making a ranger with either

Expertise: 10
Wilderness survival: 10
Marksmanship:10
Beast Mastery:5

or

Expertise:10
Wilderness survival:10
Marksmanship:10
Curses:5

I figure beast mastery is good for tigers fury and bringing a pet along and curses is good for mark of pain and shadow of fear for crowd control....what do you guys think is the better build?

What's it for? PvE and PvP builds are rarely interchangable..

and most of them are heavy on beast mastery. Also, unless there is some kind of greater plan behind it, dont watste a spot or 2 or more on a pet. Especially not with only 5 mastery since ur pet will do like 2 damage. If you want to be successful you must determine exactly what you are looking for in your ranger build. Decide your skills that you want first, then make your points fit. If you are going for a spirit dropping ranger, then marksmanship isnt important, and beast mastery most likely will be very important. If you are going for a bunch of like ignite or barrage or quick shot spammers then beast mastery is not as useful.

Personal i don't bother with expertise. I think its a waste of points. I have an R/N whos 10 death 10 (9+1) Beast master 11 (10+1) Wilderness survival and 10 (7+2+1) Marksmen. Some times i remove the points in death and put then in the other 3

Expertise is the possibly the best attribute for a Ranger. Currently My Ranger/Mesmer has 12 Expertise and it is fantastic. For example, instead of having to pay 10 Energy to use a skill like Power Shot it only costs 4 Energy allowing more energy for me to cast spells such as Conjure Phantasm or Chaos Storm.

I do agree that Expertise is one of the best attributes in the game when used correctly. However, I didn't want to start an agruement.
