Ascalon Arena EXPLOITATION

Today, I was playing my level 7 Necro/War and was having beating up opponents. Well, then I came up against a level 9 ranger with a spider pet, I thought nothing of it... until it attacked me and I discovered what level it was.

This guy had a level 20 black widdow spider in the level 10 capped ascalon arena, and it was destorying our team. This is a serious exploit and needs attention as soon as possible.

The level cap doesn't apply to pets. All spiders are an instant level 20. He was ran and they gave him that spider. He probably got it before the patch.

Well that sucks, next time I see him I am going to report him for exploiting the arena.

It's not really an exploit, though. I dount they would do anything about it considering that there's nothing stopping a level 9 from running to ToA except for ascension.

Yeah, you can't do that anymore, I think. You could still get an elder wolf at 15 though.

Just don't play in the low level arenas. They're completely dominated by power-twinked characters farming faction points.

I want to watch that. It would be pretty funny to watch a pet take out an entire team.

And yes, low level arenas are just breeding grounds for people that pay to get rushed to Droknar's so that they can try to feel better about themselves by beating people while using an unfair advantage.

You can still get to toa, but you can't go into fow or underworld if you haven't ascended. And yes, the lower arenas are heavily exploited. It's the noobs way of evening the score. They enter the arena, they get raped. They enter the arena again, and keep getting raped. They figure out that they can get to droknars, they pay hefty sums of money. They go back into the arena, they get raped. Its funny when you still are able to destroy them.

How is this a serious exploit ? I don't understand why you'd want to play Ascalon Arena when you could just play the missions or create a PvP char and go in the big-boys arena. As mentionned above it's a pre-patch thing so you can be sure when he gets lvl 10 it'll stop.

No shame if you can take out their team minus the Widow. In my eyes you are victorious. PvP there is fairly pointless anyway...

IMO its a waste of time to get run to droknar's forge like you said. No serious player will invite you for missions and you won't be able to get the required materials for the armor unless you have other accounts.

Sad isn't it?
If I were ANet I would look into this obvious violation of the intent of their game.

I agree. I thought the purpose of low level Arenas was to give us noobs a training ground for PvP at higher levels til we learned the game better. What's the point in utilizing them if some of the players have supersized their toons to stomp everyone else? why even bother with the low level arenas indeed.

In my opinion faction is a waste of GvG, it has been exploited from day one and they havent done anything about it

Ascalon Arena really doesn't teach you anything but bad PvP habits anyway. I'd rather they close it and the Shiverpeaks Arena and roll the maps into the main Competition Arena, then maybe separate Lava Crag and toss in a few more gimmick maps and make that another arena.

Sadly it hasn't worked out that way

I've been through the game (well my ele is stuck at RoF because the PUGs have sucked there but that's another story) and seen more scorpion-looking annoyances than I care to admit. So for my monk going post-sear, I thought I'd enjoy PvP now - it's supposed to be the new route for enjoyment, you can do unlocks, get some xp, etc right?

Well unlocks would take unfrigginforever that way (gvg might change that I guess). Fun - well it was once got a grove with a good group. But that was killed after 6 in a row, hit a level 10 w/mo that couldn't be touched, period. We killed all the other 3, but we couldnt do a darn thing to them and meanwhile they were able to eventually kill us. They did the run, had the armor, had the better skills, had an elite. Yay.

Kinda killed the whole thing for that route right there.
Not sure what the 10 in a row bonus would have been.

I bothered tweaking my Mo/Me some to have some basic tiny hope of helping next time (backfire, phantasm) but even with some real hitters in our party (it wa our 7th fight and we looked to have that one too) and I had smites to do my part too when dmg was needed over heals.. you wonder what kind of person enjoys such a tipped scale. That'll teach me to try and deviate from the mindless PvE with no worthwhile drops and unworthy unchallenging AI.

If you ask me, you should only be able to bring YOUR pet that you would use in PVE. Unless, of course, its a PVP level 20 character.

That's nice...just don't play. Here's a thought -how bout they fix it so people within that range want to play and have fun? Fun, I seem to recall that's part of playing games.
