Guild Wars wont start..

Ever since the new update, I can't seem to start Guild Wars, ( I haven't updated it yet, thats the problem )..
I start it up and its at the Connecting to Arenanet first window, and its just stuck at 0% and won't move. My internet is fine, the game ran fine before, what could the problem be? (I can play HL2DM and CS etc etc).
Any tips?

Wait a little longer, it should move. That was the case for me.

Yea I left it on for 2 hours a couple of nights ago, I'll try it again tonight. It's just pissing me off because I was playing fine up till that patch... Everything was running smooth always and I haven't had any major computer updates.
Sucks.

If there's still problems, a re-install of GW may help.

Is that after reinstall? And if so then you may are you on a router, if so then you might have to make your computer the DMZ because of ports and stuff happened to my bro with FFXI might be same issue.

I did not reinstall yet, the problem is I'm not on a router or anything like that. I'm plugged straight into my cable modem.

check to make sure your cable modem doesn't have a built in router.
If you've got more than one Ethernet Out connections on your modem...it's actually a modem/router combo

maybee it is as simple as firewall?

I disabled my NAV firewall, and my Windows XP firewall too.

You sure its not with the game then why dont you just try reinstalling. If that dont work try to get one of your friends or another computer to hook up to your modem and play the game. If it doesnt work then we will have a better idea of your problem.

i also have that same problem :S i just left it on for 2 hours no help... what exactly do i do with the router to help? i really wanna play again.

Disabling firewalls doesn't always work. If you do this, the program and ports in question can still be locked out. There is possibly two ways to resolve this.
One. Completely remove the Firewall software, try Guildwars again. If it works, then reinstall the Firewall again, and let it pick up the Guildwars program to reinstall the required ports into the firewall.
Two. Remove any reference to the Guild Wars program located in your firewall, reboot the machine. Start Guildwars and let the firewall pick up the required Ports again.
It appears that every update, it requests a change at the firewall end for the reapplication of the Guild Wars program to access the required ports.
Also, never run more than one firewall on your PC. THis will cause major conflicts, and impact your performance too.
If that doesn't work, then I suggest a full uninstall and reinstall of GuildWars as sometimes it can be a corrupt file as well, due to the way the Guild Wars program works with one very large Data file.

If all fails, uninstall the game, restart. Run a registry cleaner to remove any extraneous registry files that may have been left over from Guild Wars, restart again, and reinstall the game.

I got mine fixed! All I did was wiped the hard drive, got an ATI Radeon 9250 SE(made by ABIT) Then reinstalled GW. Now mine is fine.
