Winning The HoH: It Has Sucked For Me!

I have won the HoH six times in the past 24 hours... (my first six times, :-P). Anyways, it was a real downer. Winning the HoH means you are a good player (playing with a good group), and generally means you've already gotten far through the game (or finished it).

I have beaten Guild Wars once with four different characters, and am finishing off my fifth character (I deleted some so I could make new ones). This proves I have actually experienced the PvE, and should have earned some good items (although I haven't earned many great items by finishing the game, but through farming...). I have unlocked items, and with faction that has helped me. I have also experienced the PvP part of Guild Wars (every single part of it), and have proven I can actually play by beating HoH 6 times (3 times in a row in one run, and 3 times in a row in another run).

What sucks about winning the HoH is the drops. Three sigils drop, and one gold item. Guess what I have gotten...

1 Celestial Sigil
1 Golden Unid Armor
1 Golden Unid Hammer

The Celestial Sigil was great, I sold it for 35,500 GP. Guess what I got out of the golds?

A MAJOR vigor rune. MAJOR, not superior!!!

The Golden Hammer was... as good as any crap blue drop:

19-35 damage
8 req. hammer
5/10 sundering hilt
+19% damage while hexed

How can they give u drops like these? A major rune, and a bad hammer from what is like beating the PvP portion of the game. A person who can get through the HoH deserves something good, not crap!

I believe the Hall of Heros could be improved by doing this:

The chest either drops FOUR celestial sigils.
The other solution would be that the chest drops good gold items with perfect and good stats, not bad stats.

P.S. : I'm not trying to be picky and all, but would you be content with those drops... in comparison to what other people on the team got? (like, one person got 3 sigils in a row... on the 3 win streak!!!).

I honestly think there should be 8 drops. Three sigils and 5 gold items. There is no "i" in team, it took a team of 8 to win the HoH not 4.

How many time is HoH won a day? A lot, and not to mention numerous teams win consecutively such as yourself. They would get fantastic items, and be extremely rich. This is why some of the items are good and some suck.

There are a lot more things needed to fix tombs then just the item drops in the HoH.

Taking out all the non-1v1 matches would be a good start. Right now it's partway a luckfest, with the HoH itself being the greatest example of it.

Having only 1v1's is boring. It's not like the tombs are ranked or anything, you go there to have fun. And 20 consecutive 1v1's are not my idea of fun. I'd rather have some diversity in there with king of the hills, 2v1's, etc.

I think there should be 0 drops, and I'm not joking. The inflation from HoH is bad enough, and if ANet is serious about doing everything to curb inflation, then they should keep PvP rewards strictly PvP

Sorry but 1v1v1 standoffs, 2 minute zergfests, and 2v1/3v1/4v1s are not fun. Bringing in luck is not a good idea to maintain quality competition and gvg shouldn't be the only place for that.

Once again I'm a free agent. Quality guilds ahoy?

They should make 8 drops. They should also make a single item for each player. I do not think they should make them all perfect though. I don't even think that they should be gold. Yes, pvpers should get rewards for competing and winning in the hoh, but they should not be able to "farm" the hoh. And yes, pvpers do get rewards, its called faction. It was introduced in a major update quite recently. We all still remember that correct?

Yes indeed, and faction should be all they receive.

Perhaps with higher amounts of faction they would able to unlock PVP-Only versions of perfect storm bows and stuff, but that should be it.

I think the six team maps are a bit annoying. You can do very well and lose just because three teams decide to kill you. Or take yesterday - my team had one player drop due to connection issues, so we were 7 on the team after the first 1vs1 (unfortunately he dropped after entering Burial Mounds). Next map - 6 teams. We destroyed our direct opponent and then waited a bit - cause we were 7 and had to choose our opponents carefully. So two teams apart from us were left after a while and we went there to join the fight. Basically we were helping green against yellow and did pretty well until the green players (who were recovering but two men short already and I believe no rez left) made a retreat. That left us with yellow and we had them nearly down when green came back and began to kill us. Call it tactics but I don't like it, it didn't make sense as well. They were nearly beaten by yellow before, why should they kill us just to lose again? Better to kill of the other team together and then try out who's the better of us two.

I'd like to see a 4-way-dance with 1vs1 and the winners another 1vs1. That would be fair and square and the best team would win. Same with HoH - make the last winner fight only the survivor of the rest - so it would be a 1vs1 again.

My guild has noticed that a large number of the gold armor drops we get in the HoH are minor runes as well, and I'll admit, it's a bummer.
Remember though, it used to drop only one Sigil. Increasing it to four sigils per win will just reduce their value even further.

The gold armor dropping majors is still a problem in my eyes however. It's still a fairly small (not statistically significant) sample, but major runes are a bad booby prize. If they made majors worth using at all (~40 health) it wouldn't be as much of an issue, but I'm done unlocking majors, and I have been for a while.

The varying value of items in the HOH doesn't bug me much, but I almost always play with my guild. I'm not in it to farm money either, although it is my main source of income because I can't put the effort in to earn money through PVE. Still, items that drop in the HOH should be remarkable in at least one category.

Every item that drops in the HOH should have +18-20 parts, or +14-15% conditional damage. No +11% enchantment duration pieces please. They needn't all be perfect weapons- the mechanism of giving people something to strive for keeps them coming back. Yet something about the weapon should be remarkable.
