Accused of being a bot?
Bragg Madaxe
Some idiots I just went on a quest with just accused me of being a bot. All I could think was "what the hell?"
I've been playing for almost 3 weeks, and have never been accused of that. Why would they think I was a bot?
I wrote their names down and will NEVER go on a quest with them ever again. Have enough paranoid people in my life, LOL.

well, some people are stupid you know, so don't mind them.

he he, cant people tell the difference between a person and a bot.
Cant they figure out that a bot follows a script and that a person does
random action and actualy speaks a proper organized speach

no big deal. even if they did report you, anet won't find anything on you so long as you really weren't botting.

Well, I tend to leave all chat except team and guild blocked, so I rarely talk. Usually when I do its to ask a player if they're high, or just plain retarded in the random arenas.

I can't imagine how this would happen in a game like Guild Wars. Are you constantly attacking the same group of monsters over and over again each time they respawn? This isn't every other MMO out there, its not even like we can sit and fish all day and get accused of being a bot because we haven't moved or said anything in 3 hours.
Did they even explain why they thought you were a bot? Otherwise, its probably just a bunch of stupid kids just being...stupid.

lol it was funny one time.
I started a group for Aurura Glade mission, and let a group of 2 join with us. I asked if everyone was rdy, and i got a response from everyone except one monk. I asked again and another guy said she doesn't speak english, but shes there.
Ok i thought to myself.
So then mission carries on, but the monk doesn't speak anything, and when i told her to use healing seed, she wouldn't respond. I got frustrated and started to PM her saying "Healing - Seed".
Still no response... I then said, ok next mission i'm kicking you. Then finally the other guy said "Shes a fricken bot ok!"
She was a bot, and doing lousy job of healing as well.
Then came to the part where you need to carry the cystrals to attune each of the parts. The bot then ran off towards the enemies and died.
Of course we all failed that mission.

Enlighten me... why would the guy have a bot brought along like this?

I'll say it again. Guild wars requires a slap function with which you can smite down players who meet 'n00b standards'. i.e. 'l33t speek', all caps, spam, and rampant 12-year-old flaming.
The district should also have the choice of booting idiots to a different district. One person starts a vote. If 5 people agree, the llama gets blasted off somewhere else to piss off other people.
I really should start a thread about these suggestions in the propper thread...

Because i picked up gold after a battle? I have always done that and no one has ever complained (in fact, every party I've been with, someone picks up gold, and everyone picks up what is theirs).
Perhaps she didn't know gold is shared and thought I was getting it all for myself. Dunno. Needless to say, I didn't touch gold after that with their party, lol.

Ahh the moronic youth. So very young and, well, moronic. People need to realize that these things disqualify you from being a bot:
1. You speak english. At least some form of it. I say, the more you speak like a moron, the more proof you have that you're not a bot.
2. You change your routine as needed. If you see someone just doing the same thing over and over without ANY change, chances are its a bot.
3. You dance. Seriously, have you ever seen a bot stop what hes doing a dance? I think this is a dead giveaway.
Yeah, I'm sure I'm missing some here, but the truth is I'm just too lazy to list em right now. Chances are someone else will pick up on the ones I missed, and even add some others.

I think bot witchhunts (as in players screaming 'BOT!!' at just about anything) are a terrible thing to happen to a game. People want to play a game with peace of mind, and not suffer from the anxiety that if they don't do something unexpected or irregular every 10 seconds, someone might just think they're a bot. I personally don't want to be forced to /dance every so often when playing with strangers just because one of them might report me as a bot, I just want to play the game.
I've seen this in other online games as well: people who think they're doing good by hunting down and reporting bots, but without very much clue on how to go about it. They'll taunt a player and push him to respond, and if he doesn't respond within 10 seconds, bam, report. Same sort of attitude that you can see in PvP: you use a clever build to kill someone, and suddenly you're branded a hacker. Here you don't talk much or keep a steady pace in your killing, and suddenly you're branded a bot. It's sad, and causes ArenaNet a lot of extra work which actually detracts from their capabilities to track down the real bots/hacks.
Ofcourse there shouldn't be any reason for such paranoia: I hope ArenaNet investigates each bot report themselves, and never draws conclusions from what one or a couple of people claim about what they thought somebody was doing. That will give the honest players peace of mind and allow them to fully enjoy the game.

to avoid any problems i just travel to lions arch and check ecto prices every once n a while in case my repetative farming begins to look suspicious.

On the flipside, I have had the very unfortunate experience of playing with a bot, TWICE. And beleive me, you know when you are playing with a bot. For one, they never, ever respond. For two, they will *always* just keep running into monsters. When I was doing Hell's Precipice our party only realized it was a bot halfway through when they wouldn't stop rushing. I will only make the assumption that it is a bot when they don't repond, ever throughout the whole mission, keep rushing, and then later in town they will let you add and kick them several hundred times. But yeah, it sucks. At least there are probably some people reporting true bots.
In other news, playing with people that can't speak english, never know when you are adressing them, and don't respond ever even to their own english name are NOT fun to play with.

i've been stuck with bots a couple of occassions.. as soon as i realized what was going on, i left. worst was the gates of kryta mission. jesus seems like half the attempts i made were plagued with bots. they'd just make a beeline by themselves for every monster in sight, and end up aggrovating monsters in the multiple dozens to fend off.
next time if i figure out whose bot it is, i will personally wring their neck.

Yeah, i could see why they'd be around Kryta, before they nerfed the drops. Frustrating, huh?
