People who complain are frustrated by actions ArenaNet takes they don't understand, this unfortunately makes their commentary on the matter written poorly due to their emotions leaking into it. They are further frustrated because people read into their emotions more than their legitimate qualms.
This creates the problem that people who feel the need to champion Guild Wars and zealously fling flames at people who have anything negative to say about it is they don't realize that some complainers actually like Guild Wars.
So, both sides have problems expressing themselves and understanding each other due to their emotions and the general clumsiness of human interaction.
Such is life.

I like Guild Wars. But that is simply my opinion *Dodges any argument whatsoever*

OMG
I just went to look up "Guild Wars Gold" on eBay and the result was horrible. When I first saw it I wanted to be sick, then I wanted to cry, then I was infuriated. I just do not understand why people would buy it, it is just wrong. I have fun playing the game and I get mass amounts of money that way, but these butt pirates want to completly LEROYYYYYYYYYYY JENKINSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS the whole GW economy. Those people don't care about the game they don't care about anything except $ $ $. Now it takes a lot for me to use this word, but IF YOU BUY OR SELL PLAT ON EBAY I HATE YOU! ! ! Go out into the real world, earn a living and quit ruining my favorite game. Hell the only reason I found the forum section here is because I am on vacation and my fathers CPU is from 199. something and probably couldn't play a demo let alone a full legnth version of GW.
Sorry I had to get that off my chest.

Thank you Anet for this game! You can expect me to buy the next chapters when they comes!

But the complaints are what fuels Anet's ideas. If everyone just made posts about being completely happy with the game, Anet would have no idea what was wrong with the game. A complaint does not mean someone hates the game, but rather wants that aspect of the game improved.
Yes, I do enjoy the game of guild wars, however, like anything else, it can be improved.
Untrue, as there are numerous bot sightings. A game will never be exploit-free, and the reason why Diablo 2 had so many more cheats and hacks, was because it was created a long while ago, and also has had more time for people to come up with ways to cheat the game.

Guild Wars is great, in as much that there is free updates and regular patches. I am almost finished the game and I have Amnoon Armor and I have not had to farm at all.
There are more choices in GW, you can farm or you can play the game, you can PvP or you can aggro a heap of mobs and see how many you can kill at once. You can test different builds, you don't have 25 different attributes that you need to train individually (e.g. Crafting level, magic level, agility level etc.) and if you go away for a while, you can come back and you haven't been left behind.
You also have a chance of killing monsters higher than you, meaning you don't need to kill thousands of rats just to level up because they are the only things you can kill. Weapons are more tools, not "auto-pwnzors". You can't do damage with a sword unless you have the "skill" to do the damage.
GW has one of the best death systems in any game I have been in. You don't suffer a penalty with items, level or gold when you die, but your effectiveness in combat is lowered, so dieing doesn't mean you need to re-craft your armor or find a new weapon.
You can play Guild Wars without bothering with the community much at all, sure you might do some missions easier with people than henchies, but you can complete them all with henchies if you need/want to, you will just be limited in effectiveness.
That is my PoV.

This is a GREAT game for the noob like me to MMORPG's or to the 30 year old geek that lives in his mother's basement that's played (and beaten) every video game known to man. Anyone who disagrees with this statement is out of their minds and are very much so wrong.

Guild Wars is damned cool and one of the most entertaining, addictive, and beautiful games to come down the development pipe in recent years. I don't play online games for various reasons and I bought GW on the offchance it would be as cool as certain friends online mentioned and I'm glad they were right. I've since had two friends go out and buy GW the day after seeing me play it on my comp and I have three other guys online talked into checking it out. Gotta like it when you can spread the GW gaming goodness.

Well, in the last two months, i have built up a total of 1030 hours playing guild wars. I think that number speaks volumes.
Yes, i have my issues like most people but the good outweigh the bad. Give it time and i'm sure every issue that everyone has will be balanced out to some degree.
Like the Charrbane, i too have got others to play GW.
A friend told me about it in another game. I told my brother, my brother told my uncle, my uncle told his friend. No doubt his friend will tell his dog but i think that's where my chain will end.

There will be some future time for that, at present there are serious issues, let's resolve them first.

Well, I'm glad there are plenty of positive comments on the game, and yes there have been many posts to the contrary (including many of my rants). It would be interesting to hear as the game progresses thought and views.
I should point out however, that the OP did contend than everybody bitches on this forum, which does open the door to some sort of rebuttal so I do think there was bound to be some spicy replys

All in all i freaking love this game. I played the final 3 hours in the final beta, and thats all it took, canceled SWG subscription and preordered the next day.
As far as "issues" go, well yea, theres some game issues, always will be given the nature of programing and those that do it, you know, humans.
Course theres one thing i don't get, and can't understand for the life of me. If some people hate this game so much, and constently talk about all the problems with it, why do they still play it? Personaly if i think a game is bad, i won't continue to play it, don't see a reason to if i'm not going to enjoy it. But hey thats me, and maybe i'm the weirdo, i don't know.

Sure, some people linger around these forums and claim they hate the game and that they no longer the play, fine. That doesn't represent everyone who has issues with how ArenaNet handles things.
Weezer_Blue
Maybe you should rename this thread the "The I feel like bitching and moaning about bitching and moaning thread", because you hardly complimented the game at all, and you're also terribly confused about all the issues. I'm not going to go into depth, because it's already been discussed to death.
Crimson_1190
Normally, I get sick of a game after a certain amount of time. Example: Jedi academy was only fun for a couple days (after about 6 force choking people and throwing them down a pit, or using them like a weapon and hitting their allies was boring...amusing still but not fun). The longest I have ever played a game was Warcraft II....that being said. So Far since April 29th or so (if i remember the date correctly) I have played from the time I get home (2-3 in the afternoon) until the time I go to sleep around 10. I play almost as much as I work. The game is fun, the most fun I have had in a VERY LONG while...given I enjoy books with titles like "Introduction to Spectral Analysis", "Discrete time Signal Processing" and "Orthogonal Wavelet Transformations", fun may be a relative concept. There are some minor things I would change, but they are too insignificant to waste the time of the Devs over. I just get annoyed reading on forums when people complain they dont have enough money...then someone else complains they have too much and nothing to spend it on. PLAY THE GAME. IN THE TIME YOUR TOOK TO WRITE THAT, YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN A GOOD DROP :-P. it isn't supposed to be too easy or there is no challenge, do the missions. My major complaint with A.Net at times is that they are too nice and willing to accomidate peoples wishes, in the intent of making the game more fun for all. Not that there is a problem with being too nice, but come on .
I think complaining comes natural to people because it gives the illusion of actually having an opinion.
Go out, frollic in the meadows of Kryta...explore Dragons Gullet...Do not Worry where your next plat will come from...

I just have to say that this game is by far one of the best that I've ever played. From the moment I opened up the package and plopped the cd into my computer I've had nothing but fun. I can only hope that the future installments of Guild Wars will be just as good. Until then, may the wars rage on.

People need to complain. It's the national sport in all countries. Let them do it. They'll vent up, and then they'll go back playing. A.net is doing a great job, we all know it, and the angry people are just that, angry.
You never really listen to angry people, you let them spew and cool down, and THEN you talk. Lots of good ideas have come from real or perceived problems with GW: some of them are cool, some of them are weird.
But it is only good that we have a thread to balance it out: it is true that complaints are important and useful, but I as a game designer often feel when receiving comments that nothing we do is ever right. To see a "keep it up, it's great" every once in a while is important. Keeps motivation up. Keeps you willing to do a great job, not just a good-enough job.
/signed, kudos to a.net for the game and the aftergame support - even if we're experiencing some WEIRD lag-problems lately, in italy!

I love GW. I used to log in quite a few hours on Call of Duty, but GW has totally captured my gaming time.
I have won with one character (now deleted) and am progressing nicely with 4 others. I love playing the monk most of all.
My complaints are few, my experiences with other folks has mostly been outstanding.
Great game, look forward to more content, but I'm still satisfied working all 4 of my current characters, slowly but surely, towards the end story. Then Woe and UW will be my stomping grounds til new content.

well im afraid you will have to take your "love" else where, this is the i "Like" Gw topic ..
that has to be one of the greatest thing about this game, it was only $56.99 when i bought it... i would expect something like this to be like $70-100... ya i keep my bill from when i bought Gw... is there something wrong with that?

If no one complained it would be the same pile of crap game it started as. When people complain it's because they love the game, they just want some improvements. If no one complained, they would just leave the game, and write it off as another waste of 50 bucks. I love this game, but I bitch because it could be better. I'm sure the devs dont take it too hard, they know their game is amazing, and they're doing their best to please everyone no matter what kind of gameplay they prefer.
My hats off to you A.net, now stop reading this and get back to coding.

for 50 bucks....my 120 hours were definately well spent. This IS an amazing game. I AM overly critical, but it's my background that forces me to pick out everything that isn't perfect. This DOESN'T mean the game isn't phenominal. ArenaNet has certainly done an amazing job with Guild Wars.

I LOVE GW.
i play GW all the time and see that there are faults but this is anew game typ and if u dont like dont play it.
I will have to keep up to get all my character on lvl 20 in the 15k armor so the summer update can be really fun. And playing 742 hours definatly means something

Nice graphics, no video lag, no network lag, no link-dead, low hardware requirement.
Impressive henchmen AI that allows me to say bye to some poor AI'ed human players.
Short missions/quests that I can play if I only have 30 mins. Lots of missions/quests/areas to explorer if I have 3 hours. 4 thumbs up!
To the people who never stops complaining regardless game/profession/quest/pve/pvp/singleplayer/multi player/online/offline: play with what you have and enjoy what you play. you'll be much happier in your gaming life.
yeah, it takes a few loud individuals to change the world, sometimes, but constant ranting isn't much help.

I think most people are just tired about seeing people complain for spoiled things, not so much the natural complaints like "why does my guild tab for chat reset to ALL when I leave a city" sort of thing. (Btw, that is annoying, having your tab reset and then you start chatting in ALL tab and go 'Damn, wrong channel!')

I think for all that wonder why people complain (atleast in my case) is that I expected a bit more, went through the game too quickly, no economy, and got tired of exploiters ruining what gameplay experience I enjoyed. The reason why it is nice to debate and discuss things is that in some way you feel like you're doing something worthwhile to help.... after maybe someone's listening up there
But having said that I'm glad that there are people who enjoy the game for what it is.
